      @McScruffUK when I made my handheld I had to set the pi to the same resolution as my screen, which is 320x240. I had to change config files to set this resolution, and if I connect it to a screen via HDMI I get the same resolution on the TV. Someone else may know different.

      I was wondering the same but until I get the time to really fix this issue I do the following:

      Create whatever file you need on your Pi in Windows (or any other OS) Copy the file(s) to your Pi in one of the shared folders in \Retropie SSH into the Pi Copy the files to the right location on the Pi

      Not the most user friendly way, but this way I got my Pi to boot showing the PsOne boot sequence.

      I've never really looked into the PiZero past it's initial announcement. With it's extreme low cost, compatibility with Pi1 projects and it's small size, the benefits do actually seem to outweigh the negatives. However, I remember very well that I never could push the Pi1 as much as I would have liked and I can't imagine being satisfied running a RetroPie installation on it. All that said, it's hard to deny just how awesome the plug and play RetroPie SNES controller mods are.

      mame4all and pifba should be ok too. Don't expect the libretro arcade cores (lr-fbalpha, lr-fbalpha2012, lr-mame2003, ...) to run at decent speed.

      Wow, impressive build!! Thanks for the explanation about the buttons, great work!
      Would be interested to see the backside of the front plate where the button go and how you fastened the buttons?

      Agin, very impressive!

      I thought about doing that. But I thought it would need a powered one. All Pis prefer a hub?

      Power supply is 2amp.

      Thanks for the response.

      @herb_fargus

      Upon reading more of these links, I think the big problem for me is I have a Pi Zero, and if I'm not mistaken, installing add'l emulators really requires an Internet connection. This is obviously a problem, unless maybe if I had a USB hub.

      I tried following the instructions, found the emulator on the list, but it simply complains it can't find it. So for now at least, I'm taking the path of least resistance and getting 3.8.1. If it does the job, I'll keep using it. If there's some way to install these add'l emulators thru a USB flash drive, please let me know. There seems to be a good bit of confusion around this.

      Hi! Newbie here.

      Reading this thread I now have a pretty fair curiosity about seeing whether Starfox can run at a speed in which music audio can at least keep up (it's about 3-4 bars behind the gameplay as far as I can tell). So I'm wondering whether a good heatsink could allow enough overclocking beyond what suprjami did to get performance to that level.

      Does anyone have good thermodynamics or heatsink knowledge to know what would be most effective in terms of fan shape and blade numbers for heat dispersion rate?

      I'm looking at something like these products to start:
      https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835100013
      https://www.amazon.co.uk/Raspberry-Pi-compatible-Sinks-heatsinks/dp/B00FRMBSPW

      edit: I already tried suprjami's clock speeds and did not notice a really appreciable difference. Game is barely playable with some slowdowns and the music lags badly.

      Hi, thanks @BuZz - all seems to work now. I got a few errors flash past as it was building but nothing that has stopped it from working. Hope it fixes it for you too @simonster.

      I did have to play about with the retroarch.cfg file in the /nes folder to get it to work with my NES controller, but fixed it by setting the player 1 control to:
      b_btn = "1"
      select_btn = "2"
      start_btn = "3"
      up_axis = "-1"
      down_axis = "+1"
      left_axis = "-0"
      right_axis = "+0"
      a_btn = "0"

      All the rest to "nul". If I didn't do this then as soon as I started a nes game it would not respond - I'm sure there is a proper config, but I spent a few hours playing about with the config files before I got it working so now enjoying some sweet retro gaming :)
