@ramco That's weird, I never saw a TV/Remote who shuts down Kodi or the Raspberry, the power button is never assigned to o CEC button, it should only turn off the TV.
Probably it is your TV brand, never heard about that one. Each TV brand as it's own CEC implementation and name, yours might be one of the weakest.
You said you are running Kodi 18.2, Kodi is currently in version 18.8, update it and check, although I doubt it will fix your problem.

@zefolhadela Nintendo 64 is hit and miss on a Pi 3. A proper power supply might help somewhat, but really picking the right emulators for each game will be the way forward if you want to increase performance.

found the reason for the problem written before:
I add the cron for user "root", this is incorrect! Must be for user pi !
root user is not allowed to start "emulatorstation".

@mitu There is no modification needed at all you can use multi-switch --generic command to offer an easy setup.

@MaMikee Please install raspi-gpio at first with sudo apt install raspi-gpio command. There are tons of other possibilities available ;)

Oh sorry, I didn't realise that. I had experienced this problem with the start menu myself just recently, and tried looking for a solution online but to no avail (that's when I found this unanswered question). I hadn't even tried looking through the start menu for a solution tbh because I assumed that if I couldn't find a solution online, then it must just be impossible to access the start menu in the 'Kid' UI mode. So when I stumbled across this solution while just browsing through the RetroPie menu for any general useful settings, I was really excited, and thought I'd come back and answer this question in order to help anyone else who was also having difficulty with it.

I had planned to look through the start menu settings next to see if I could find anything useful there too, so I guess I should've held off on posting this answer until I had done that, since I would've discovered this more efficient solution then. Oh well, at least both these methods are available here online now for anyone who is still having difficulty with this (and who, like myself, hadn't bothered looking through the start menu for a solution). Plus I'm just glad to learn that there is this more user-friendly method of enabling the start menu in the 'Kid' UI mode.

So for anyone reading this who still wants to know how to do enable the start menu in 'Kid' mode, complete the following steps instead:

First make sure you're in the regular 'Full' UI mode Press the start button to bring up the start menu Click 'UI Settings' Scroll down to the option 'Disable Start Menu in Kid Mode' and set it to 'Off' Exit the start menu

Then you can enable the 'Kid' UI Mode and the start menu will be available. You don't have to first turn off the Raspberry Pi and then turn it back on again, like with the first method I posted.

This is indeed part of a safe shutdown circuit.
This pin needs to be HIGH while the raspberry pi is on and not change its state before shutdown process completes, because it drives the mosfet that provides power to the pi.

@jackal123uk Thanks for sharing your solution! Mouseberryes are out-of-stock for a while and I would like to use this concept to power RPi from the car battery. When the engine is turned on, one of the 12V battery outputs is active while the other battery output is always 12Vs, so the goal is to transform 12V to 5V only if engine is on, to power RPi. I wouldneed such circuit to safely power off RPi when engine is turned off.

As I have really limited experiences with hardware, I would like to ask you how to modify the scheme to support such solution? Why do you have this USB in your circuit? Thanks a lot!
