It looks like you need to find an Atari XEGS logo in .svg format to replace the one in the theme folder you copied (logo.svg).

There's no format string for Month name, just for month number.

So this what I have. The grid actually works and all I really need to do now is add in all the Metadata and positioning of everything. I used <autoLayout>1 5</autoLayout> under imagegrid to specify how many columns I have as well as how many games are shown in the grid. Anyway, thanks again for the help, even though I ended up figuring it out for myself. At least I know that what I did matched your suggestion to a T.

@gamehedpro You click on the Code button at the top of the repository and you can download the theme as a .zip file:

After you extract the archive, you can copy the theme's folder to \\retropie\configs\all\emulationstation\themes (create the themes folder if it doesn't exist) and then you can choose the theme from EmulationStation's menu.

update: This did the trick! My carousel assets and backgrounds load perfectly after resizing the backgrounds from 1920x1080 to 1280x720. Thanks!
