    Seems to be an EmulationStation bug.

    @r3dstar

    I have tried to play around with those numbers too.
    Tried with or without autolayout.

    I also tried all of those setting under carbon2021, things seems works fine there.

    nothing would change anything. the grid still doesn't show up. So I can't see anything taking effect.

    The only time the game grid will show up is when deleted the game grid tag. LOL and the default would grid would shows up.

    All the controls seems to work as well, but the gamegrid or any color of a tile for example would not being show.

    @a12c4 Alright, it worked! kind of embarrassing since it's such a simple fix. Though thinking about it, it makes complete sense why an odd number would work. Anyway, thanks again! You saved me a lot of time, as it would have taken a while until I would have realized the problem. Take care!

    Hey @A12C4 yes to behave like the carousel in wheel mode, a bit like the game wheel in hyperspin I guess. A vertical single grid that is rotated slightly.

    I understand no problem, just thought I'd bring this up for a future update :)

    There are a few things that I would love to see before this anyhow, such as sound scroll for the gridview, that would be awesome!

    @mitu said in Video's Playing in Background of Grid View:

    Have you tried using the dev branch of EmulationStation ? You can install the emulationstation-dev package from the experimental section and it will pull that version, instead of the stable one.

    UPDATE:

    So I finally was able to circle back on this and test it. I can confirm that installing emulationstation-dev did do the trick with the audio glitch in the grid view. However, I'm a little concerned I might introduce instability or unintended consequences by not using the "official" stable one. Is that a legit concern? Could issues arise by using the dev version as my regular one, or would I benefit from more improvements (even though it's not fully released yet)?

    @mitu said in Strange Request...But Can I Get Rid of Grid View?:

    @alphabetapie those options don't affect the Pi4.

    Thank you kindly, much appreciated as always. Having said that, if someone with a Pi 3 wanted to run this custom theme (if I were to give it to them), should they bump these ups?

    @ruckage Thank for the input and the time you took to try it out.

    Scroll sound isn't played on the system select when you hold down the direction button

    That seems like a bug, good job for finding it !

    The launch sound isn't fully played when launching a game - it's cut off so only a very brief snippet is played. I'm assuming that the closing of ES would need to be delayed until sounds have finished playing.

    That's sad, I'm not sure if it's possible to delay it until the sound have finished playing. I will take a look but I can't promise anything.

    At the moment you'll notice with the neo geo mini theme the scroll sound is quite bad when continuously scrolling but a very short sound like a quick click for example would likely sound perfect.

    The sounds I used are very short but I noticed the same problem. I think the way audio is handled in ES make it so that only one sound is played at a time. If you move the cursor, the sound is played ONLY if another sound isn't already played. This need to be changed, I need to see how the sounds work with the SDL library.

    An extra sound for when holding down a direction would be very beneficial - something like <sound name="scroll-continuous">. This could either be left blank if the the developer wanted no sound to be played when continuously scrolling or they could use a shorter sound effect that is suited to fast scrolling.

    That sound like an interesting idea, but first let's see what we can do with better sound handling.

    Just a thought.....if

    <textlist name="gamelist">

    with

    <scrollSound>./art/scroll.wav</scrollSound>

    was added to the grid view, that would enable scrollSound whilst using the grid possibly? maybe that's a workaround?

    Hi @jdrassa any news on a fix for this as yet please? https://github.com/RetroPie/EmulationStation/issues/667

    Just built es-dev from source and the squished boxart is fixed!

    @ectoone Thanks, you assumed correctly about the blue/white values. I think this is going to be perfect for my R2D2 build

    Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem is? I'd really like to not have to rebuild again.

    @zigurana I use a different account name on the forum, @Koerty is just a placeholder so nobody take it. If you want an answer tag this account :)

    @darknior I don't really follow what's going on on the forum, I will try to check it more in the future to collect more feedback.

    But right now I'm busy disassembling and reassembling the grid view so RetroPie's main contributors can carrefully review each parts independently, so we get a strong and reliable code, battle tested and easy to upgrade/fix if something change in the future.

    I planned to make a first public release once it is stable and mature enough for everyone to use it, but at this time it will be way less evolved than the one from Jacobfk20. So now, after seeing all of this messages about the grid view, I fear to have too much negative feedbacks even if more upgrade are planned for the future.
