      I have a similar issue but reversed. If I set the volume anywhere between 0 and 60% in the ES Sound menu, there is no audio when the video snaps are playing. If I set the volume anywhere between 60 and 100%, the volume grows proportionally when the video snaps are playing. However, the correct volume is used while games are playing.

      Therefore, if I set the volume high enough to hear the video snaps, my in-game volume is often too high.

      All of this started when I began to troubleshoot why some video snaps where causing ES to crash. Using the HW Accelerated OMX player fixed the issue and changing a few other ES Sound menu options finally made the Sound adjustment work. I believe the key fix was changing "PCM" to "Speaker" so that it would match what is shown under the volume control when running 'alsamixer' via SSH. After they matched, the volume setting worked and was retained instead of reverting back to 0.

      Any idea why I have a mismatch between video snap volume and in-game volume?

      Video Snap >>> 60 to 100% = 0 to 100%
      In Game >>> 0 to 100% = 0 to 100%

      Thanks for the reply. So it does not matter much if I make them 320x240 or 640x480 or what else, as long as they are 4:2:0 YUV. I will definitely use the script, thanks!

      @manwichman44 Add more info about your setup, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.
      Maybe you can upload such a video snap that is causing problem somewhere, so we can test it ourselves.

      If you're playing the video with VLC directly, does it work or crashes also ?

      Thank you for replying @mitu

      I mean the folders that store the game art, video snaps and wheel art.

      Leave them on the SD card then change the metadata in the gamelist.xml file to point to the Roms folder on the SD card.

      Thanks for the reply. I tried to do an upgrade, but it had many failed packages. So I ended up downloading the latest 4.5.1 Retropie image and building everything again from scratch.

      Should I run the remaining "Remove the Old folder if it exists" and "Use Alternate background for main menu" items?

      I don't know, you'll have to ask the theme author what those mean.

      I tested the theme and it works fine at 640x480 (video & all), unfortunately I don't have a way to output 320x240 to test it at this low resolution.

      @mitu I had no luck with Skyscraper, it did not find any of the missing PC Engine CD games the normal way.

      How do I scrape by MD5 using the --queryoption?

      UPDATE: Ok, so three weeks later, being stubborn and refusing to give up, I finally managed to download the missing video snaps for those five PC Engine CD games!

      What I did, was to place those five PC Engine CD games into /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/pcengine, then I scraped with skyscraper and it managed to find the video snaps for those games. I set the video path to each game from /home/pi/.emulationstation/downloaded_media/pcengine/videos/game name.mp4.

      I thought I would just update my last post incase anyone else is having the same problems that I had.

      @mitu @GoldManSex778 - Thanks for the advice. I converted with handbrake, basically opened the video in h/b and ran it through without messing around with the settings.
      Now both the portrait and landscape videos display with the correct aspect ratio and work with omxplayer
      Thanks so much.

      @mitu I will. I've been into Retropie for a couple of years now so have a reasonable handle on the themes available, the challenge is always finding one which hits the spot but gives you what you want. Given it's a build in an actual PS1 case, the Playstation theme was the obvious, choice but it didn't really tick all the boxes. After a lot of trial and error, Showcase seemed the next best alternative. I'll keep on looking.

      I've been meaning to build this for about a year now, just sod's law when I get round to it, it looks like modding the PS Classic is now the way to go. :)

      Many thanks for your advice and assistance, greatly appreciated.

      Regards
      Andrew

      Instead of changing these settings in raspi-config. Have you tried adding these settings in config.txt instead?

      Video options in config.txt

      For example
      hdmi_ignore_edid=0xa5000080
      hdmi_ignore_cec=1
      hdmi_group=1
      hdmi_mode=4

      @brimby said in Video snaps became "blue-tinted" all of a sudden:

      This is probably going to sound insane because I can't find anyone else having this issue

      There have been at least 3 posts about this in the last few days. It's a known issue from the latest raspbian update

      Downgrade vlc or switch to omxplayer

      @AtTheArcade you don't have audio and it crashes because the audio settings changed. You need to go to the settings (start menu), audio settings and you'll see an option that's empty, with just the arrows. You'll need to select something there.

      I probably should look into a small upgrade path for that change.

      I ended up re-encoding all of the videos as I none of them were playing with the OMX player enabled, so the Pi was getting rather hot and videos were going choppy - this has had the nice side effect of fixing the squishing problem I had.
