@BuZz well said and this community is great you guys created with Retropie. Great to see you aren't motivated money. I have seen people charge money to help someone with something giving there hour rate. And beg people to donate to there paypal as there giving the most basic info.

Very cool on your stance with ads sir. And i figured you and your team would be far to busy for a podcast. Just really pisses me off that people give RetroPie bad name on ebay, craigslist, ect. I flag that stuff whenever i see it. Also flag stuff with people selling devices with Kodi claiming ''free everything''. Probably does absolutely nothing in the long run sadly.

Please let us know if you or your team ever do any more podcasts.

Thanks again for all you guys do!

@BJRetro no it ran very poorly on my overclocked pi 3b+ last time I tried it. Maybe some older 2d only games might be ok but the few games I tested were very choppy.

@ByteThis It's only logical. There clearly is a demand for complete Pi+Retropie packages as many people don't have the skills or the time to create it themselves (and they probably don't think twice about the illegality of it all). And when websites like Amazon and Ebay ignore these violations it will only get worse. These sellers might benefit as well from Nintendo taking down rom hosting sites, as people might see these complete packages as the only way to get (a lot of) games. I'm sure Nintendo will act on it at some point when the market gets big enough. Let's hope that Retropie doesn't get caught in the crossfire.

i have a megapi case and can definitly reccomend it somthing to keep in mind before you splash out cash for a setup with one is when it comes to cooling the pi is mounted upside down in the case and unless you have a really low profile heatsink trying to fit a fan isnt possible as it will hit the heatsink when fitting....my friend found that one out the hard way :P

personally i think you can get away without a fan as my setup does not have one and ive yet to recieve any thermal throttling/heat warnings and i use my system for all sorts of things and it certanly didnt complain when it was compiling code for almost 2 hours non stop

@MrSkyle Probably use both. Be easier that way.

You'd end up having more entries, but only use the alternate name for games released in that region.

    Hi @Rastan80 @tpo1990

Time Crisis and Time Crisis Project Titan work fully in pcsx-rearmed:

You can play with a controller but obviously it's not the same as with a Lightgun. I'm aiming to tidy up and merge up the Lightgun support for pcsx-rearmed by June.

The arcade version works fully in Mame which is cool....but is too slow unfortunately, see 7 minutes and 30 seconds into this video:

Sorry for resurrecting this old topic. I have the latest code (1.5.7) working now with a patch. Will finish it off in next day or two.

Exagear which i didnt get a chance to try i believe runs off some custom WINE variants used for the project. Dont quote me on any of that.

For older games though including my main RetroPie install im using a x86 PC running Kubuntu at the moment, but specifically i use playonlinux within this.
I had absolutely no troubles creating a WINE container using this program to play some older games i have such as Gothic 1, 2, 3 (my personal favorites) as well as i even got warbirds running which i recall playing on w95 back in the day. Neverwinter nights 1 and 2 are also setup and had almost zero troubleshooting involved though i only played 1 briefly..Great game btw!

You said you're running windows so WINE isn't an option, but something to consider as maybe even a dual boot. You also don't need ZOMG hardware to get these older games running even if you did at the time such as integrated intel works well so does older Nvidia cards.

Also Neverwinter Nights is coming to the xbox one and i think PS4 here shortly...Im not sure how it will play with a controller, but its day one purchase easy for me! The Titan quest port worked pretty well with a controller so im optimistic.

Outrun, Paperboy, Commando, GhostnGoblins, Kung Fu Master, Bubble Bubble, Bomb Jack.

These were the Games that i played on Commodore64 (friends) or on an Apple //e (me) in the 80s

And they were so special to me because i saw the "Originals" in the Arcades in other parts of Europe or the World and was sooooo astonished what Arcade Cabinets were able to do.
To unterstand that: here in Germany Places were Arcade Machines stood were only allowed to be entered by persons with the Are 18+.
So we had never the chance to play or even see those great machines as Kids.

And the love stays on - i still play those games (concerning Retropie: with AdvanceMame) and dont need all that modern stuff while doing that 😊

@ballboff said in Collectors, how big is your stash of Pi games?:

I don't see the point of this. Scrolling through that many games isn't fun. Take the gamecube for instance, out of the 600 games released, there are only say bout 5 or 6 that are playable.

Wait, what? 5 or 6 playable games on the GC? Er no!

However I do agree that having too many on the Pi is a pain. I've tried to hand curate my collection down to a more reasonable 64GB, and personally I think that's a good limit for the Pi. Any more and it's overkill for me, plus it slows Emulationstation down too. I'm currently trying to manually curate my MAME collection and it is proving hard work, but it has to be done. There are too many obscure puzzle games and mahjong games, clones and many other games that don't work and will never work on the Pi. They have to go. I've got it down to about 1700 right now and I think I'm nearly done. Hope I am anyway! Be nice to just download a finished set but everywhere you look it's complete set or nothing.

I do support the idea of going much further with a more focused setup, say a few dozen titles for each system comprised of games that you know you'll want to play, but I do like the discover-ability of having a nice large MAME set. Like for example, this morning in fact I discovered a marvellous 1983 game I'd never played or even heard of before and it is truly superb - Blaster. Rather than feeling like a retro game it plays more like a modern take on a retro game. Absolutely superb gameplay, and without a good set I would never have found it.

@Rastan80 Nope, it is in no way playable on my overclocked RPi3B, and no way it would be on an overclocked RPi3B+ either.

Pretty sure you would need a PC setup to run this game well. I don't even think the beefier ODROID-XU4 or RockPro64 ARM SBCs would do for this game.

    Hello,

Yes, as long as it is powered off the raspberry pi is ready to boot one 'image' or another on any drive.

The ability to boot from usb is possible and it takes some additional programming outlined here. If the usb mode is programmed the ability to boot from a SD card or a USB is granted. Additionally the ability to boot from SD card will be unchanged. Lastly the boot order while powering on will detect a installation on a SD card before a USB.

'Noobs' installation is an easy way to manage start up and it is possible to have multiple operating systems on one disk. Retropie is built on the raspbian distribution which is based on debian linux. Many of the things learned can be applied interchangeably.

Learn a lot, and you're welcome.

@SgtJimmyRustles Yes of course. The restart is the default option but if you change the python script intead of

    os.system(scriptDir + "/recalbox_SafeShutdown.sh --restart")

You set the --kodi switch ;)
I recently build a small media center with the BATOCERA system and I would like to play some games and want a Media center. So it's a small gift to myself ;)
