    I would absolutely love to see Sega Saturn emulation on the Pi3. Because of the complexity of the system though, the only way it would likely have a shot is if the emulator was optimized for the Pi3 and design to use all four CPU cores. Most if not all current emulators are limited to one core.

    Here is the issue. When using lr-imame4all as the emulator for mame4all you can (Not) get TAB to work. So changing back to mame4all as the emulator you can then enter the TAB screen.

    The key here is enter the MAMEUI menu here (TAB) keyboard and be sure to choose Input (General). Now here you want to set your joystick with multiple buttons items listed below, but you still want your keyboard to still work when something goes wrong.

    So set what you see below. Once you put a joystick item in it erases what was there for keyboard you then need to his ESC on keyboard and then put back in the key from keyboard that was there originally you can see what they were below. Once you have this all done you no longer will need a keyboard for playing mame4all.

    Config Menu - J1 JoyButton 7 = (RTrigger) or Keyboard TAB
    Reset Game - J1 JoyButton 5 = (RBumper) or Keyboard F3
    UI Cancel - J1 JoyButton 12 = (RStick Press) or Keyboard ESC - this will allow you to exit the menu and even the emulator since Select + Start (Does NOT) work for mame4all
    1 Player Start - J1 JoyButton 9 = (Select) or Keyboard 1
    2 Player Start - J2 JoyButton 9 = (Select ) or Keyboard 2
    Coin 1 - J1 JoyButton 8 = (Start) or Keyboard 5
    Coin 2 - J2 JoyButton 8 = (Start) or Keyboard 6

    These settings will be saved under under /configs/mame-mame4all/cfg and in default.cfg. Save this file for later use and incase you format and start over. You will also want to save your retroarch-joypads/MicrosoftX-Box360pad.cfg and XboxGamepad(userspacedriver).cfg and last but not least your /configs/all/retroarch.cfg or /configs/mame-mame4all/retroarch.cfg even though these should be the same just depends on which one is actually being used.

    Now if you take everything from my 2 other posts and this one then regardless of what you use everything should work properly and normally for these 2 mame emulators and the use of 2 xbox 360 wireless controllers.
    mame4all = lr-imame4all and mame4all
    lr-fba-next

    I was using a tonsmart g01 in xbox mode and a nes30 pro via the on board bluetooth . This was back on rp 3.6 when I first got my pi3, so maybe as there's been quite a few updates since I will have better luck this time. I'm going to give ppsspp another go I think , although I am getting fairly good results with lr ppsspp so far. I can see it's going to be a similar case as n64 with different settings/emu for each game to get best results

    @BuZz my bad, I got it. I installed samples on FBAnext and Mame2003 just now. I noticed yet Mame2003 plays the samples at the same volume as the rest of the game but FBAnext plays them LOUD.

    Oh okay. I definitely do not want to bring back any cores that I have hidden away removed. I just want to update my existing cores and Retropie/EmulationStation like when 4.0 is officially launched, 4.1 and so on.

    When you say the latest version runs reicast in 640x480, how New is that? I'm wondering if I update retropie to latest, it might run smoother on my pi 3?

    @edmaul69 good to hear two 8bits work fine wirelessly. I wanted to get a pair of controllers for some Dr Mario 2-player action.

    Seriously looking online that was the last throw of the dice. Maybe the Bluetooth connection went buggy for some reason on first setup. Can't explain it. Anyway it seems to be sorted. Phew!!!

    Thanks Floob I will read the info in the link further and see where it leads. This is all new to me so just learning. The machines I have worked on to date are 99% mechanical so this is new territory for me.

    @bertrand said in Input controller lag, wireless or not?:

    to beat Contra, that 1-2 frame can really make a difference!

    Yes it can and it's funny, I really can't think of any system outside of the NES where PERFECT timing is so absolutely crucial, right down to a frame or two. Granted, it's not an issue in nearly every game, but when playing a title that is already next to impossible, every little advantage most certainly helps.

    @Addison yes. some emulators have the ability to overclock the emulated CPU. lr-snes9x-next and lr-fba-next do, for example.

    the way to look for/change this setting in retroarch is to go:

    select + X to access the RGUI menu quick menu > options look for the setting 'cpu overclock' or something like that. raise it a bit quit and reload he game.

    the effects may be good or bad depending on the game/system.

    @scrappbrapp

    Just plug and map like any normal USB controller and RetroPie is happy as a clam.
