What about running the ROMS from the USB, just go in to Retropie settings and disable USB ROM Services.

Go to retropie setup in retropie menu.
select the one that says something like (To be used post install)
Scroll down to I think its called Edit runncommnad....it will say something about runcommand.
    You can disable it there.

Thanks guys, Think I will purchase a Usb->Ps2 adaptor.

I guess I never made the connection but I do have a handful of those old USB to PS2 purple and light green adapters laying around that were used back in the day for keyboard and mice. I wonder if they would do the trick.

In my existing cab, I left a keyboard inside connecting to the Ipac for any editing that I might needed to do.... so I will try and find an USB keyboard to replace this.....

They also work great with a wireless keyboard. I like the type that have the keyboard and glide pad built into one. They also have some nice mini-sized ones that are perfect for that type of thing.

If any one needs it, here is the full working config for PS3 which you can copy paste into the snes9x.cfg file.
    /opt/retropie/configs/snes/snes9x.cfg
It will replace the 360 pad layout and there is no player 2 but you can edit the file as you wish.

    [Keyboard] # Get codes from /usr/include/SDL/SDL_keysym.h A_1=100 B_1=99 X_1=115 Y_1=120 L_1=97 R_1=102 START_1=13 SELECT_1=9 LEFT_1=276 RIGHT_1=275 UP_1=273 DOWN_1=274 QUIT=27 ACCEL=8 [Joystick] # Get codes from "jstest /dev/input/js0" # from package "joystick" # Quick save is on right analogue click # Save is on R2 # Mapped to SNES layout for PS3 controller # Quit is the PS button # PS3 A_1=13 B_1=14 X_1=12 Y_1=15 L_1=10 R_1=11 START_1=3 SELECT_1=0 QUIT=16 ACCEL=98 QLOAD=2 QSAVE=9 #Joystick axis JA_LR=0 JA_UD=1 #Joystick DPAD buttons LEFT_1=7 RIGHT_1=5 UP_1=4 DOWN_1=6 [Graphics] DisplaySmoothStretch=1 # Display Effect: 0 none, 1 scanlines, 2 phospher # NOTE Phospher does not run at full speed DisplayEffect=0 MaintainAspectRatio=1 DisplayBorder=0 AutoFrameskip=1 Frameskip=200 Transparency=1 CPUCycles=100 [Sound] APUEnabled=1 # Sound rates below as index, i.e. 7=44100 (some of these produce static) # 0, 8192, 11025, 16000, 22050, 29300, 32000, 44100 SoundPlaybackRate=7 # Enable on RPI2 for clearer sound, disable on RPI1 due to performance impact InterpolatedSound=0

Thanks to BuZz getting this all working.

    it's a configuration option. see https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Configuration-Editor

configure basic libretro emulator options configure default options for libretro emulators Allow analogue sticks to be used as a d-pad = 'left stick'

Thank you! Yes, I'm re-thinking the use of a Sanwa button on the front face of the cabinet. Instead, think I'll use a smaller momentary button with a stronger spring somewhere more out-of-the-way. Maybe on the top/rear or somewhere out of sight.

@rbaker I have to admit I've not tried; I'm fiddling with a single-player thingy and that's not come up for me. Yet!

    Hi BuZz,
thanks a lot for your reply.
sorry, but i just realise that i didn't explain things correctly yesterday, i am not using any usb hub or things like that, when i say that i have 3 different input, that's input i have try to use one by one on my raspberry zero.

now for both keyboard (if i need a keyboard to configure my pi, i will try to find another one less exotic) and xbox360 controller, i think i will not try to use it with my pi anymore.
i will use only the logitech gamepad for the moment, so i will check the content of your link to see if i could solve the problem in the version 3.8.1.

    thanks for your help.

As a troubleshooting measure, try launching the same files from Basilisk II on your PC.

No problem. Thank you for trying. I won't get a new controller as this one is working perfectly with every other emulator (that I've tried so far). Hopefully someone will know how to get it working sooner or later.
