the /opt/retropie/configs/ files are not that usefull (not the default.cfg)

"home/pi/RetroPie/roms/mame-libretro/mame2003/cfg/default.cfg" is likely what I want the file was binary blob and not what I expected deleted it will test again. thanks.

@Riverstorm i have two different ps1 controllers and they come up different so maybe its worth a shot! they were only like 7 dollars so not too much of an investment if it doesnt work out. Thanks for your help!

You need a joystick with an analogue stick or a mouse. SDL2 changed the way the input works, so there is no other way currently.

Remapping the core controls will not affect the the main control configs at all. Rather, it will create a new .rmp file that will be automatically loaded everytime the core is loaded. Should you ever decide to switch back, you could just return the core remapping to it's original state by changing the controls back and saving the core remapping again, or if you don't happen to remember what they, you can always just delete the remapping file altogether. At that point, RetroArch would have no remapping file to load, leaving the original control scheme in tact.

@glennlake Least I my first one out the way early in my Pi days.

@andré It might be worth it to get a usb wifi dongle or a usb ethernet dongle to connect to the internet to configure your build. That could always come in handy for updates or transferring roms.

That sounds like what you get when there's a mistake in the shader and it defaults to what you get when you specify no shader.

Reinstall the files so you've got a correct version and change line 18 so it reads:

#define MASK_TYPE 0

What a lot of the online videos fail to mention is that they are overclocking their Pi3 for the best results in these more demanding emulators. The Rpi group have yet to release any advisable settings for overclocking a Pi3 that would not void your warranty, let alone damage the Pi3 itself. However, you can find user-based recommendations for overclocking a Pi3 all over the net. I hope you'll excuse me if I don't recommend any particular settings here.
