      @mitu

The only setting which might be related to the joypad is input_joypad_driver, which is by default udev. You can try re-adding back the file, then changing this to sdl2 and see if this fixes the mapping.

Yeah, I tried that. Didn't change anything.

I've decided to just restore my RetroPie install from a backup and avoid the Xpad driver update for the time being. I was able to update everything else individually without issue.

Thank you for your time and I apologize for not seeing this through to end.

Retropie4.4 's support of Xbox 360 controllers is broken

Xpad works just fine. Xboxdrv has known issues with multiple controllers but that isn't something the retropie project maintains.

@thenetstriker said in Problems with xpad after update to Debian stretch:

I also get a lot of those error messages. So much that it is affecting the performance and I'm getting a lot of video freezes. I hope that will be fixed soon.

Thanks for digging through this issue, I guess the new 3B+ is more finicky about measuring the power consumption.

@nilsholgersson pcsx-rearmed is known to have a lot of compatibility issues, being fast enough on arm processor came at a cost... and don't expect fixes for this, notaz (the main developper) has been quite inactive for years.
Your best bet is to use either the original hardware or a more accurate emulator (i would recommend beetle-psx-libretro) on a hardware more powerfull than the pi (i would say something with a cpu as close as possible to 3Ghz)

I would also be quite interested to hear people's opinions and experience with this. The advanced controller mapping guide is excellent and very comprehensive for xboxdrv however the retropie wiki does seem to suggest xpad is the preferred and is even the default.

I would especially be interested if anyone has any suggestions for xpad tweaks to improve ScummVM analog control.

      Thanks very much.

I've got some problems with 1708 revision gamepad. Moving to 4.8+ kernel solved the problem for me. 4.9 is in the NEXT branch now btw. But older gamepad revisions seemed to work well afaik. Is it working at all (LED on..?)

you will probably need a powered usb hub for the controller.

Version 4.1.1 (grabbed it from github with manual install on raspbian). RPi model B.
Yeah, tried both removing and reinstalling. No luck with that. Maybe github version of the driver is a bit outdated..? product and vendor ID's are correct, but something is just not working with 4.4 kernel.

Well, I tried that but I am not sure that it is a good idea. I "hacked" it so that only positive values are passed into the kernel API. This is what happened:

      jstest /dev/input/js0 shows a range of 268 to 32768 (instead of -32k to +32k.) evtest /dev/input/event10 shows ranges from 128 to 255 (instead of 0 to 255)

So I don't get 0 still. Might be a problem.

ES can be correctly configured on device configuration with the analog triggers.
But still for example Crazy Taxi on Dreamcast can't be correctly played with analog triggers. In fact, patching the value range didn't have an effect at all. When you accelerate using right trigger you only reach like 15 km/h :)

I assume something like this: all the analog axis are signed 16 bit values ranging from -32k to +32k. The analog trigger is just 8 bit from 0 to 255. So I think that libretro also expects the 16 bit input range. But when the controller only delivers 8 bit you won't be able to trigger the full value range (only get values of a maximum of 255 instead of 32k).
I think they tried a fix here already:

@Rascas has posted that "Kodi 17 beta 7 available for RetroPie"
      https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/6308/testing-kodi-17-beta-7-available-for-retropie

This has a kodi-peripheral-joystick addon that should help you get your controllers working in Kodi.
