Nice! 'Contra' is one of those games that seems tailor-made for cheevos. My play habits have been so scattershot lately that I wouldn't mind fully committing to a game for some tough, object-oriented gaming. The bonus cheevos appear to be mostly two player, but they're extremely creative. It looks like a few are even escort missions where the second player can't ever die or fire a shot. Very keen!

@retrofreak89 made for iPod with video or Zune cables work great, other than that, get a cable from pi-supply, element14 or pimoroni, anything from those sites will work for sure.

Thanks for the reply. The mobile gamepad is only for testing the retropie. If it is a success, which I belive it will, I am buying USB controllers. :)

@dbg33k This would work except i think you would run into issues with resolutions and screen sizes. Your hand held will have a small screen and probably need to be set to a lower screen resolution. It might be a pain to constantly change the setting back and forth between your TV and your handheld as all of those settings are also within the SD card. I might suggest that you buy a micro or mini usb drive and transfer your roms onto the USB. Then you can have small SD cards in both your pi's and just move the thumb drive back and forth. With the small thumb drives it shouldn't be to much of a problem with the handheld. All the roms and save files will be stored on the usb stick. Here is an example of a 32gb stick link text

@ecks You are partially correct. I wasn't sure what you were talking about since audio seemed fine for me with mame2003. So I played a bit more until the plane boss. The audio is not unstable. It's not fully emulated. Slightly changed fps the further i went.

Mame2003: 60fps most of the time. Audio is not scratchy but not fully emulated.
    Mame2010: Same as 2003.
Mame2016: 53-57fps and maybe lower, depends on the area. Audio is slightly scratchy when its in the low 50s but audio is properly emulated.
FBA: I tried it for the hell of it, I'm testing enough damn emulators. It did the worst..45-48fps but audio is properly emulated.

@russkil I think @dankcushions said it best. It just depends on the build, case, and how you run your setup.

I run a Pi3 without overclocking, and for the arcade games that I wanted to play, I was easily able to push it over the threshold and saw performance suffer as a result.

I cut a square off of an old Pentium sink and polished it smooth, then stuck it onto my CPU using Arctic Silver. No fan. I have never seen a temperature related issue since, so I will do this on all of my Pi3 systems from now on.

I echo the comments above regarding self-adhesive applications. They can work if the stuff is thermally conductive, but how can you know what you are getting? Having a tiny dab of actual thermal adhesive is a good fallback.

Regarding paste vs. adhesive, both will work. The adhesive hardens while the paste remains liquid, but the paste is thick stuff and it dries a bit with hot/cool cycles and it is very sticky (don't over apply). Mine sink has not moved a bit since I added it (and the Pi is attached upside-down inside my cabinet), but I could grab the sink it and twist it right off if I wanted to--so thermal adhesive is probably the safer route.

@Starcade2084 Cool, I have 2 ps4 controllers for my main use. These are for my 4 year old. I want something basic, easy to use and cheap for her to play seasame street and little mermaid with. She has a few good years before is ready for analog sticks! I also have this: Post with my Donkey Kong 3 Cabinet and I am currently working on a TMNT bartop arcade for my office as well, so i have plenty of authentic controls for my arcade, FBA/Capcom/Neogeo games!
