• RPi-3 SNES-9X Next Audio Lag?

Some other things I noticed when I booted up the Pi 3 tonight and additional information and corrections:

Upgraded form 3.8.1, not 3.8.7 (sorry about that). Burned from my PC using Win32DiskImager. It's happening on ALL of the emulators, not just SNES, and I tried NES (Contra, Mega Man 2, Castlevania 3: Dracula's Curse, Super Mario Bros. 3), Genesis (Sonic the Hedgehog, Earthworm Jim, Mortal Kombat), 32X (Virtua Racing Deluxe), Sega CD (Snatcher), and PSX (Crash Bandicoot, Castlevania, SOTN, and Tekken 3). Same audio lag by about 1-2 seconds after the motion. Music also lags behind, but it's harder to catch because of the input from the sound effects. Just to make sure it wasn't the R-Pi 3 in question, I had another Pi-3 with another SD card running a different software on it and removed the SD card from it and stuck the same 128 GB SD card inside the R-PI 3 and powered it on (using Canakit parts from one of their many R-Pi 3 kits they sell on Amazon with the 2.5 A, 5 V power supply). and same problems occurred. The garbled sound in the main menu for selecting games and lags behind in the moving of the highlighter from game to game (sounds like static), and even through selecting consoles in the main menu. Also, I notice when the R-Pi 3 is powered down, either through the Emulation Station shutdown procedure, or by the In-Line Power Switch I have connected to function as an on/off switch for the R-Pi 3, the sound volume always goes back to 0% when I power on the unit.

Just my takes on the situation. Anyone else notice this?

N64 doesn't flawlessly work on the Pi. Overclocking a little does help, but some games will always have lag, some unplayable. It's a shame but I think until we see a Pi 4, this will always be the issue.

@rbaker said in Win 32 Disk Imager backup!:

@thrussmeister It's the full card so when you do it, make sure that you have enough space on your hard drive....I didn't! I needed to find 30GB of space to save the image.

Assuming your SD card isn't actually full, and assuming you have enough space to temporarily store the full image, it should compress very nicely for storage.

@Endprodukt I haven't received my screen yet but what I was thinking of doing was to use an up-converter to raise the 5 volts to the 12 volts it needs. You might check with wermy on this forum. Here is the link to one of his youtube vids that may help. "

@nickuspga this powerblock might be of interest to you. Then if it is an arcade button you are trying to use, find one that is not a momentary pushbutton

    @weeple2000
I suggest you to try this:

    RGUI (usually select+x)
    Settings
    Input
    Input User 2 Binds
    User 2 Device Index

    And change it.

@DidYaNailer AFAIK RetroPie doesn't run on Android. But there's a hope! You can install RetroArch on it! ;-)
With some tweaks you can get a fancy look.

You need a class 10 rating Micro SD card for effective read/write access and reliability, so maybe a SanDisk micro SDXC - UHS-I around 64 to 128GB.

In case anybody else runs into the same issue, setting mupen64plus_audio=0 in /opt/retropie/configs/all/autoconf.cfg seems to fix it.

Welcome to the emulation scene! You might want to check where you got the file from and what type of dump (release) it was. TOSEC and Redump are some of the more popular versions of the disc based emulation images you may have.

You need to fine out what extensions are being used within the zipped file. CUE/BIN or ISO etc. This will determine what configurations you may possibly need to make, or whether you can simply drop the image into the roms folder and run it.
