@swd120 said in Hyperkin ProCube - Trouble syncing?:

any reason that wouldnt work for this?

That's a tricky question, as there are many possible variables at play with 3rd party controllers that can affect compatibility in a number of ways.

I have fixed this now - updating advmame should remove the bad symlinks also.

After a few failed attempts I finally got this all sorted out. For anyone interested I used the following command to get all my roms in /media/usb1/roms/nes/ to scrape as well as the sub-directories correctly without having to edit any other file.

    pi@raspberrypi:~ $ /opt/retropie/supplementary/scraper/scraper -output_file="/home/pi/emulationstation/gamelists/nes/gamelist.xml" -missing="/home/pi/.emulationstation/gamelists/nes_missing.txt" -image_dir="/home/pi/.emulationstation/downloaded_images/nes" -image_path="/home/pi/.emulationstation/downloaded_images/nes" -rom_dir="/media/usb1/roms/nes" -rom_path="." -thumb_only -workers 4

the nes_missing.txt I though would be useful so that I can find which I need to manually edit.

I don't believe there is any way to handle this without first learning a bit about how audio is handled at a system level. However, a more immediate solution might be found right in your television. If it was produced in the last ten years or so, this type of functionality is commonly found by surfing through the audio setup options. Every manufacturer names this feature something different, so be sure to keep a keen eye out.

I use a Raspberry Pi 3 and a Wii for emulation and both have their strengths and weaknesses. The Wii is considerably easier and has light gun support for just about any emulated system. However, the Wii homebrew scene has slowed to a crawl, if not a complete stop. As soon as RetroPie added Daphne support, I formed the personal opinion that the only viable future for a DIY retro console was going to be in setups like RetroPie. It might require a lot more configuration, but the potential is almost unlimited. In a way, it's a hobby unto itself or a game room in a box that can always be improved upon. If that notion is undesirable, the alternatives such as the Wii, RecalBox or Lakka might indeed be more fitting.

So is frameskip simply not possible / accessible in the LR MAME cores? Because that rather craps on how useful they are on Pi 1 / Zero for all but the oldest & most basic games.

@Riverstorm, No, I am not seeing anything notable. The quality is good on this AOC monitor. Just out of curiosity, that's all.

@dankcushions Ah okay, no worries, it's actually only a small number of ROMS I'm using mame2010 with anyway, and a friend has promised me some roms converted to the correct version for FBA now, so hopefully I can avoid 2010 until it's less experimental!

    Thanks for your help.

also, upgrade the lr-fceumm nes emulator by SOURCE via https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/updating-retropie#updatinginstalling-individual-packages

(there's been a recent input lag fix.. it's probably available in the binary also but i loose track!)

lr-snes9x-next (SNES emulator) has also received a similar fix that can be obtained doing the same.

You can switch shaders on using the configuration tool here:
    https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Configuration-Editor

Or you can manually customise your retroarch.cfg files, some info here:

Broadly speaking, a very popular shader is from davej, which is included in RetroPie.

In the configs originally there is stuff hashtagged out at the top of the files originally. I thought i would remove that stuff and only have the stuff i needed. My files kept getting changed. I ended up redoing my cfg files keeping the hashtagged stuff in the top of the file and strangely enough retroarch stopped overwriting the files

@auswear Once I got the Shanwan controller actually paired it works flawlessly.Although it took nearly two months to get there, and without the most generous help of @luetzel and @BuZz it would NEVER have happened. It's absolutely crazy with this new controller I now have the exact opposite problem, the controller pairs fine and has a rock solid connection....but now the controls simply don't seem to be recognised!! I really cannot envisage spending another two months trying to get this working without actually being declared clinically insane.
