    @cimbaklm said in PS3 control on LR-PPSSPP:

    Error messages received: no error, just not works

    How exactly did you test this ? Did you start lr-ppsspp with only the PS3 controller(s) connected ? Are the Dragonrise controllers still present when you did the testing ?
    Please post a verbose log from starting a game with lr-ppsspp, on pastebin.com.

    I used this note https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/15577/ppsspp-controller-setup-guide-for-when-nothing-else-works

    That doesn't apply to the libretro core, any gamecontrollerdb related configurations apply only to the standalone emulator.

    @mitu
    I appear to have solved the issue - I changed the emulator to lr-pscx-rearmed and it works fine!

    Thanks for reading

    . I was wondering if it's possible to use symbolic links instead. Does anyone know?

    Yes, but why ? You're already mounting your disc, why not use the right folder for it in the first place.

    @skylabin
    REgret the above post. It was invalid. The same error came back.
    Now I created cma=384M in /boot/firmware/cmdline.txt and now it seems to work.
    Thanks for the post made earlier .

    @mitu WELL after I did the jtest my original controller didn't work anymore in the GUI so I did a sudo reboot. While it was rebooting I removed the dongle in sadness and saw "xbox controller disconnected" small info tag in the corner, and BOOM now xbox 360 controller is working!! I have no idea after countless reboots it worked.

    Thank you

    @mitu Will do, thanks!

    Sometimes gameplay snaps loop with no problem. Can you perhaps give any insights on why sometimes the snaps freeze after about 15 seconds, but then play ok when I back out of the menu and repload?

    If your controller have a small switch in the back then try to change the position.

    @finopoulos90 Hello, I installed coin acceptor in my arcade cabinet with an Ipac2. Please don't connect 12 volt to the Usb Encoder. without a Zener Diode. Because of the same principle you have to use this schematic link from Ultimarc's website below with a Zener Diode (Coin Mech Setup tab)
    https://www.ultimarc.com/cabinet-parts/cabinet-parts/coin-mech.-single-coin/

    Kind Regards

    Didn't you already posted this in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/32712/gamepad-not-well-working/ ? Why are you opening a new topic ?

    EDIT: please use the topic you opened initially if you want to follow up on your question. Thank you.

    @RonsterMonster said in USB SNES controller not configured message when rom loads:

    So the name match, but i think there is a catch.
    usb gamepad.cfg is the file name
    running cat /proc/bus/input/devices gives:
    Name="usb gamepad "
    Looks like a lot of empty spaces ???

    If you look in the issue link I posted, you'll see it's the same situation. The .cfg name is without spaces, while the name of the joystick has a lot of spaces at the end. Just rename the file so it has the same name (usb gamepad .cfg, with the spaces at the end).

    would I be better off if i want to use my laptop to run emulators manually and not use retropie? I prefer retropie as its all bundled up :)

    Not sure what you mean here - you mean installing the emulators outside of RetroPie and running them ? You can do that, but I don't see how that can be easier for someone that's not familiar with each emulator in particular (i.e. know about RetroArch et. all).

    Thanks for the quick reply. That makes sense. I didn't realize the esc key worked as well. I can make that work. My cab used to have a PC, and esc is my exit game button. Q was always a bad button to program because it would bring up quit menus and what not in different emulators. Anyway, you're the best, thanks again.

    @Meatydeal When creating a PBP file, I know you just provide the BIN file, not a CUE. But it's been a while since I've tried to create my own, and once I discovered CHD files, I no longer needed to.

    CHD files are MAME Compressed Hunks of Data files. It's a compression format for disk images that are not only smaller than PBP files, but they're lossless, so they result in better quality files than PBP conversions. When you create a CHD you do it using the CUE file, and it will embed that, and the associated BIN files, into the final CHD file.

    @r3cho Yes. Just note that background is defined three times in the carbon.xml file for various views. You will need to replace it in all three places.

    @sirhenrythe5th Hey, thanks for these suggestions! I'll look into them.
    Sadly I must admit, that I'm a very bad at playing Shmup's. But I love the aesthetics, though.

    I remember buying Ikaruga for DC when it was released as the "last" commercial game for the DC. ...and the crushing difficulty when I finally played it at home... :D

    @sirhenrythe5th
    I've been watching several of these threads from the same user and I find it interesting to see how hard a person might work to make all these tweaks, changes and manual repairs trying so hard to save a broken installation but still be so resistant to the idea of just imaging the sd card fresh and starting over.

    There are other things on the SD card like just Retropie, e.g. browsers or other tools, all of which have long been set up. Of course I have a backup of that. However, reinstalling the image is not a solution for me, if you can get the problem under control yourself with appropriate help, especially since it has meanwhile turned out that a software bug is obviously responsible for the last-mentioned problem. I may be a newbie when it comes to Linux and therefore don't have the prior knowledge like many others here, but I try to solve such problems myself as far as possible, especially since you can now read (almost) everything on the net - but only almost everything. I set up Retropie exactly as recommended by the website and did the configuration within the respective emulators - just as I have been used to for decades with the PC and the standalone emulators. I could neither guess nor understand that problems like this would arise right away. Nevertheless, I am of course grateful for everyone who helps me in such a situation. And yes, at times I was pretty boisterous, excited and venting my anger because I wasn't used to such problems. But it was never meant personally. Giving up is just not my thing. Better sleep on it for a night or two and just try again in a new attempt.

    With this in mind: Thanks to everyone who helped me, even if it was just with links and references to other topics.

    @sleve_mcdichael said in Module depends on other module.:

    And then if it's not installed, I'd do that with rp_installModule lr-prboom which is the same as rp_callModule lr-prboom auto right?

    Yes.

    Would this all go in the depends_ function of the other module?

    Yes, you can add it there.

    And if I want to make sure it's the latest version anyway, could I just skip the check for rp_isInstalled and just do something like this?
    ...

    You could, but that would attempt to install/check update for lr-prboom each time instead of just checking locally that lr-prboom is installed.
