I had been searching for a suitable answer to this question for awhile and never found one, finally figured it out myself so I figured I would share.

When you are editing the controls for the game you can set the Mapped Controller, set your player 2 mapped controller to player 1 and now both "controllers" will act as inputs for player 1.

This has to be done in game and make sure to only save the game remap file, not the core.

I was actually able to get it by updating from binary. It showed I had it and that it was installed, but I had to reinstall/update and it’s now working.

Hi again, I don't know what I did but somehow I managed to get it working finally! Thank you for the tips though :-)

OK, may have solved this, Button B is now working and have swapped over A and B so A is fire, B is bomb for instance by going into the Core remap options.

If this is indeed now working, can someone just point me in the right direction for which options to change in the core remap so that my C and D are the same as C and D on a neogeo control panel?

Initially I did not have any intention, but after I read this on "validating, rebuilding and filtering":
"Sample: Some games require an additional zip file with recorded sounds or music in order for audio to work correctly"

i do read posts, but considdering that you wrote "out the box" i assumed you installed xarcade2joystick via the retropie setup script.

either way, if this works for you, then it doesnt really matter anyway
