Afaik system16 is fine, system18 is a different matter (among other things, i kinda remember there are tile priority issues) and would require a major rewrite to be glitch-free.

I can get to the core options using select&start anyway. (Those two are the only buttons that function) I couldn't find the option at first (because one would think that would be in the Controls menu...) but I found it and it now lets the joysticks work, at least. I have to check the buttons on a different game (because pacman has no buttons). I'll set it at the Core level once I test it out. So far, so good.

I removed the #emulationstation #auto line 2 of the autostart.sh, and it worked. I didn't think that line would matter since it doesn't effect mame2003 roms launched the same way. Why does multi lines cause this issue? Is there a way to include multiple lines?

Copied my tron.ini file to location /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-mame2003-plus/metadata.........it didn't work.

Just a quick bit of advise this should be set in quick menu->options the option names can and do change there is no reason to edit any files

no problems at all i would do the same for mame2003 if you have updated the last few days mame2003/cfg dir will need cleared as well.

@mitu that was my first thought as well but the retropie user that's being used on my system is already part of those groups.

@PhoenixFlood Installation from souce will take considerably longer than a normal 'from binary installation'. I wouldn't be surprises if it took more than 1 hour. If you don't want to be logged on the PI while it's compiling, you can use screen to leave yor login session running and log off the PI while it's compiling.

EDIT: for the record, on a Raspberry PI 3b, with a stock Retroie 4.4.x installaton, it took about 24 min to compile from source.

Retrieved my file (SVG vector format); unfortunately the parts outside those needed for the backdrop still need some finalizing. Anyway you can now download it from here.
Don't look at the preview it shows there, the cardboard does is complete.

@clyde i just tested marks update it does appear the offsets are wrong now for what you choose im sure mar will fix it soon enough.
