Thank you very much, your suggestion was right. Without the nespi case everything works fine. Thank you so much. Now I have to solve another problem that I don't have in my cabinet. Don't know why the controllers swap themselves after some reboot. I don't touch anything, simply turn off, turn on and magically pad 1 becomes 2 and 2 becomes 1..... howhever, don't wanna go out of post, I'll post it in another one. Thank you again.

I think the minimum is 1 min, which you can set in the ES configuration.

Maybee it would ba an option to use my own (very) long splash screen video, so that the slideshow is already on when the video ends?

I don't think that would work, since the screensaver is started after ES 'works' for at least 1 min.

My suggestion was really to lower the entire volume in ES's sound settings - I was hoping that, on Windows, it wouldn't change the entire OS volume settings.

Ah that explains it. It's weird though, that it doesn't do that with every video. Is it only arcadeitalia scrapes that are like that? Maybe I'll just scrape with UXS. Not sure how to use Handbrake.

How do I "manually scrape and specify the -convert_video option?"

Have you tried overclocking your GPU ?
The reason why I'm asking is because I experienced the same issue.... but after 5+ hours of screensaver.
I tried a bunch of stuff... Regenerating and removing most of my gamelists, building Retropie from master, updating just about everything on my Pi, trying various settings in ES....
And then I noticed a video glitch in the ES interface when a video preview started, then all the interface froze except for the preview.
I changed my GPU overclock from 550 to 525 Mhz.... and no more freeze.

I grabbed the Thin Pixel 7 font from here: https://onextrapixel.com/25-free-pixel-perfect-fonts-for-8-bit-designs/

Renamed the font file as FreeSans.ttf and FreeSansOblique.ttf (these are the two fonts that are used for the video subtitles on the screensaver), and then dropped them into /usr/share/fonts/truetype/freefont, overwriting the existing font files.

I've also solved the screen saver problem and added a script to trigger and Enter Key press, 8 seconds triggers this about 2 seconds after loading..

Hi, no I never found a way to do this except using a type of Cron job to pop the machine into sleep at a specified time every night, just in case I forgot to press the power button on the machine to put it into standby or manually shut down ES. The Cron thing I tested about 6 months back but I cannot remember if it fully worked. I will pick it back up at some point in the near future as I've not played with the machine for a while.

If anyone has any idea how I can make ES obey the Ubuntu OS sleep settings while sat on the system select menu that would be awesome.

@akafox we were talking about the x86 build running on a PC, which if left on 24/7 consumes too much power and the system fans will keep running. The screensaver just dims the screen so isn't applicable here. Having ES obey the OS sleep settings would be good if you forgot to press the power button on the machine to sleep, shutdown manually via ES or whatever. I know with a Pi you can just leave it on 24/7 because of low power consumption, and this is fine, but using a PC there is a different requirement.

I'm looking to do the same thing for my retropie build. Would it be easiest to just make a service that's completely independent from emulationstation that handles it? e.g. make a python script that looks for inputs and performs the desired actions when no input is detected for X minutes. It might not be exactly synched with emulationstation but it would probably be close enough, and it sure sounds easier than messing with emulationstation's source code.

This would be possible if you check presence of OMXPlayer process. It's not an elegant method but it might work. But keep in mind you will loose opportunity to play video snapshots in gamelist

So the better way would be an implementation into the C++ code of ES itslef.

@mitu I am playing Street Fighter III : 3rd Strike(fb alpha)this ROM does not have a chd but I was trying another rom that used a chd and after I deleted some chd's the ROM got from glitchy to a black background.

Do you have any video scraped for your games ? That's the source for the screensavers - so you should get those using the Steven Selph's scraper - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Scraper/.
Then, you can look in the video posted by @retroprogrammer - skip the whole updating and re-installing - to see how it's configured in EmulationStation.
