@greyed yea, as-is doom 3 BFG is not functioning on the pi 4 due to the openGL requirements being too high. Dhewm3 does work though. Once the vulkan drivers mature I'd be curious to see how they help performance for those games that can utilize them.

The physical key Tab is by default mapped to traverse the button selection (in the bottom area) in retropie's dialogs. More generally it is mapped to traverse the input fields/controls of the different widgets available in a dialog.

For 0x0a / 0x0d: I do not stick to 0x0a I just took what was there, maybe it is the cleanest to sent the terminfo's cr instead of 0x0a or 0x0d.

why not the whole RetroPie build?

What advantages would that bring ? We're not using X11 on the Pi/other SBCs, only on x86.

Other than the fact that users can still be in a desktop environment after they quit ES I'm not sure. As for the RPi4 though, it appears that it can use the X11/EGL so long as you have a terminal window open.

In fact if you open terminal and run ES from it, it pretty much all but guarantees that's the case and well it works.

@Unknown I made the same mistake when I first started looking into building my first Retropie then remembered that the NeoGeo home console (AES) was essentially the same hardware as the arcade unit (MVS) but could only have one cartridge as opposed to the up to six cartridges of the cabinet.

There is already an Audio settings menu in EmulationStation - in the RetroPie system. Right now it only works for choosing the audio output for the Pi's onboard audio - i.e. no USB/I2S sound card support. It should be possible to extend it to support other audio options.

The only issue would be the EmulationStation own Audio menu, where you can choose the Card and Device (volume control) - the ALSA name of the default mixer varies, depending on the audio card, but the list of Audio Devices is fixed (in source).

@tacgnol there's an option in-game to show/hide cursor. Worked for hiding mine :)

One thing I would like to see is write protect in the emulator. Games written in Apple Pascal need the boot disc write protected or the boot hangs. This includes the first 3 Wizardry games. Like I discussed in the tutorial, you currently need to use file permissions as a workaround for this.

Why isn't screenscraper.fr's content mirrored on the Internet Archive? Seems like exactly the sort of thing they'd collect.
