FWIW Here [1] is a list of tested USB Chargers, this guy also runs a section on how he tested (see notes at end of page) and how these chargers are built usually.

Welcome to the RetroPie forum :)

    Sounds like an ambitious project.

For the peripherals: You will most likely need to use a analog to digital converter as the Raspberry Pi does not have one built-in. An external MCP3008 can handle up to eight analog inputs (and you can use up to two MCP3008 on an Raspberry Pi). This repo [1] contains an example on how to use an MCP3008, additionally you should enable SPI on the Raspberry Pi [2].

The sources (pedals, aso,) should be able to be run with 3.3V, as this is the allowed logic level for the GPIO. If they have to be do run at higher voltages you will need a level-shifter [3], for example BSS138 MOSFETs are suitable for this. If you apply more than 3.3V to the GPIO logic gates it may damage the Pi.

For the SBC: If you have a Libre Potato already you can start with it for the prototyping with the peripherals (see above). Howerver, the GPIO pinout is not compatible to the Raspberry Pi 3 or 4. Thus it will include remapping when you switch to an Raspberry Pi.

As this is your first project I would refrain from using a different board than a Raspberry Pi, to reduce complexity. Although a Pi has a higher price than a Libre it will save you worries, head-banging and tinkering time in the long run. I do not own a Libre but I read the GPU is proprietary (Mali 450), also Libre Computing does not provide a Debian Buster (RaspiOS 10) image (only Bullseye, RaspiOS 11). [4]
Currently RetroPie uses Buster as OS, Bullseye support is in the works. This means: You will have to adapt the RetroPie-Scripts and esp. GPU related configuration by yourself when you run a Bullseye RaspiOS + RetroPie scripts on the Libre. Plus the usage of a libre computer is at best a niche in this forum, i.e. expect little to no support. If you can afford it head for a Raspberry Pi 4 (2GB is sufficient) as it has enough performance to run racing simulations with theses systems: Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, Playstation 1 and earlier consoles/home computers. However, emulating Nintendo Wii and Playstation 2 games is not possible (Running Nintendo DS games smoothly is a hit-and-miss).

@james-milroy Could be, but the cause is the same - the device is not recognized as a controller, but some other input device. Using evtest instead of jstest would list the input devices present and would let you pick which one to test.

    Re-Edited the question.
    Aww, i got it.
I first time when i installed Retropie on my Raspberry Pi4 i also installed Kodi on it. Everytime I quite EmulationStation, the terminal window flashes up on the screen and them reboots. It launches Kodi. like it should.

Now since that i had to re-do it all over, reinstall Retropie on to the SD card and then install Kodi once i got it setup on Raspberry Pi4. I finally got Roms setup on retropie after failing for the first time. Everything is looking good now, but here the question. Every time that i quite EmulationStation, the terminal windows comes up, having me to type in reboot, install of going on through and launch Kodi like it should.

Got the problem figured out. It was PEBCAK apparently. Not to be confused with ID10T errors. I had to pull the games out of the .7z archives then all worked well. My wife is so happy she gets to play vectrex!

@DolphinCube said in Retroarch wont save after saving in-game a couple of times:

Certain games I played still has this issue. Especially with my n64 games. I think a fix is that when the system creates a new srm (for gba games). I have to manually delete it after the first save then reset the permissions of the roms folder for retropie using the retropie setup script.

That's weird, there's nothing that changes permissions during gameplay, all emulators/ports are run as the pi user. Did you modify the launching command to run as another user ?

But the configuration file error is still an issue

Why do you need to save the config file ? As a workaround, you can save a game/core override with the settings that you wish to change.

@mitu The price of 11.90 € / 10.46 £ seems reasonable. Order is placed and it’s on its way to me now. Thanks for the recommendation!

@mitu said in about lr-flycast with new core:

@kounabi22 Sadly no, I've been testing various variants/versions so that it would work on both Pi3 and Pi4 but due to the lack of free time, I haven't found a solution. I'll have some more free time this summer, so I want to get back to updating the module and adding the standalone flycast instead of reicast.

Any luck to make it work on both pi?

    Thanks for the confirmation.

    I also just found this:

I'd rather not change it and build my own version.

Is there a site that tells u what each folder is.

You can find it here or by looking in the emulator's doc page.

@roslof Thanks for testing/confirming the fix.

I must admit, it is not really a backward compatibility but restoring a functionality I accidentally scrapped with the last optimization roughly three weeks ago (before this fix). TIL it was designed by Aloshi this way. However it does not document the behaviour when h is greater than lineSpacing. I am currently updating the themes page of the RetroPie Docs to put more emphasis on this text+size thing.

For the wrap of Manager to the next line: IIRC you moved from 16:9 to 4:3 of epic noir didn't you (if not branch wise than at least display wise)? In any case: You may give the longdescription in the toplevel theme.xml of epic noir a little more x-space (<size> value is in percentage of total screenwidth) to keep the Manager on the same line (Ctrl-t and Ctrl-r are your friends). So no need for wordsmithing.

PS: It was the maintainer @pjft who did the merge, thanks.

@beudbeud Thank you, I might give it a try. I now have the software from the Pi2Jamma guys installed, called "regamebox". But its just not as good, imho.

@raspberry79 said in not showing all option:

So, it not showing all the options in the list.

It is, you just misunderstand what the number represents. Before you scroll, 71% of the list is visible on one page. The remaining 29% (to get to 100) requires you to scroll down. That is all.
