Hey guys - I finally got around to making this change it worked like a charm. I exited ES, then made the change from terminal, wrote the changes, and launched ES from terminal.

When I got back and ran my first ROM, the cursor was still there, but every ROM I launched subsequent to that opened and exited without the cursor. I thought that detail my be worth noting for future reference. I'm finally done configuring and learning about Retropie and on to enjoying it thoroughly.

@hannaman some ports require manual configuration. Most things are documented on the wiki - see https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/First-Installation for a fresh install.

I recommend doing that, as I have no idea what state you have bought the software in.

Well, I don't know what happened, but it's working now. I pulled my SD card, put in the old one, tried to see if I could find a change from the old card to the new, put the new one back in and now it's working.

Who knows. Sorry to bother.

I had a similar thing happen, but with 32x. I deleted the retropie config file for 32x, uninstalled the emulator from retripie set up, and uninstalled retro arch. Then I reinstalled retroarch and the emulator and all is well. You may have to reconfigure retroarch settings

@dgraham1977 you have a few options.

start fresh with 4.0.2 and then manually edit your configs based on the aforementioned post or disable xpad, downgrade your kernel, and enable xboxdrv

or use an earlier version where xboxdrv isnt broken.

if you're updating from a previous version, update your setup script, select update all installed pacakges to update, then disable xboxdrv, install the xpad driver, and change your kodi configs

personally I would just recommend a fresh 4.0.2 and then modifying the kodi configs.

The kodi issue will be solved when kodi 17 stable is released.

Required BIOS . lr-Fuse when you start looking for a BIOS file. It is necessary to put in /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/fuse/128p-0.rom

using /etc/module for module options has been deprecated for some time, but worked in Raspbian Wheezy. Now it doesn't - the wiki needs updating in this area - feel free :-)

@BuZz I thought maybe because nano is a linux text editor it would auto convert EOL.
But anyway, there is an option in notepad++ for EOL conversion so I've just set it to UNIX. I'll give it a try after Kodi is done importing my library.

Did you enable the root account and login as root ?

You should install from the "pi" user

It would be easier to do a fresh install than debugging this imho, as you will want to reinstall from the correct user.
