It's my daily driver! Clean and easy to read with a pixelated touch. My favorite thing about it is that lots of info is shown at the same time and stuff rarely gets cut from the side on a CRT.

Also, if you say you're using a CRT, I just wanted to link you a cool little script I use to set the overscan: https://github.com/ukscone/set_overscan
Super useful, play around with the disable_overscan and overscan_scale values to make sure the system does what you want.

That's because retropie did not see the .cue file. Yes, you must extract them in the psx folder.

@josete2k If Kodi crashes, with default settings, and doing simple things like that, your problem is likely a hardware one. Make sure you have a good SD card and a good power supply, preferebly a one piece one, whitout a separate usb cable.
Making a python script to kill/restart Kodi isn't going to do any better.

@Muddyhardcore usb's always have to be on while the system is on. Otherwise they couldnt detect new devices.

@Niall76 to help you we need to know what name emulator you are using. Check out the docs section on this forum under arcade. You can check what emulator is set by pressing the A button when the rom is loading.

For me it only listened to the keyboard input by default, I was able to remap the game keys to the joypad however, so that much is good. The select+start and select+x didn't work on Desume either, which has libretro support as far as I can see.

Turns out changing the settings for DraStic was barely even required. Where the game was completely unplayable on the default settings for Desmume, it works nearly perfectly with DraStic on default settings.

@AndrewH I hadn't considered that, but high scores have never been a particular concern for me*, so it's not something that's going to keep me up at night. I can see how it might bother other people though.

*I'm just happy if I get through a game, I don't really care how high the score was.

honestly a few hours after posting i reinstalled and it worked, didn't do anything different other than the program i used to format my SD card. anyway thanks everyone who commented

Which emulators/systems do you use? Does this happen to all roms?

Besides that:

That means the rom you are trying to start isn't supported by the emulator you are using.

In the Start menu, click Run.
In the Run dialog box, type regedit, then click OK.
In the Registry Editor window, locate and delete the follow registry keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AeDebug\Debugger
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft.NETFramework\DbgManagedDebugger
If your computer is running a 64-bit operating system, delete the following registry keys also:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AeDebug\Debugger
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft.NETFramework\DbgManagedDebugger
Take care not to accidentally delete or change any other registry keys.
