Starting the service as early as the 'local-fs' target doesn't always work, if the framebuffer is not initialized, then you can't display anything. For the Pi4, the display is re-initialized when the KMS/DRM framebuffer emulation is loaded, so any images shown before that will simply be erased.

You can try using the modifying the existing asplashscreen service (defined in /etc/systemd/system/asplashscreen.service) and see if changing the dependencies will make it start earlier, but the result might not be what you want.

@h2805270 Really clever idea, looks a lot like Teletext, and clean layout too. My only reservation is that I'm not sure I'd want to spend too long looking a Teletext screen, as they're not the easiest on the eye. I was never a big user back in its heyday though, and others may well have a greater fondness and nostalgia for it.

I think thats what i'm looking for. I'm trying to figure out how retropie, emulation station and retroarch all fit together. Thats my biggest problem! Thank you much!

Yes, I know this is an old thread, but tronkyfran is my favorite es theme. However, there are a few systems that aren’t covered. Any chance that this will ever be updated again?

@joharibk hiding the boot text has nothing to do with Pegasus and this Pegasus Theme, even less.
Maybe you need to follow this tutorial of how to hide the boot text

I've never heard of shadow foam before, but will check it out. I attempted something similar a while back with my Switch using this packaging foam and a scalpel. Had a smart flight case for it to sit inside as well.

The cut out I made wasn't as clean as I had hoped tbh, it was functional, but not smart enough for my liking.

Maybe it's something I'll revisit in the future using this stuff.
