@pjft said in Please help, arcade machine.:

If you're in the UK, the folks at https://www.arcadeworlduk.com/ were reliable, back then, and have everything you'll need.

I can second that for Germany, too, at least before the Brexit. But I guess it will only add the possibility of import taxes for Europe now. I got nearly everything for my DIY arcade cabinet from AWUK except for the cabinet itself, its screen, and the Pi.

You should also look here in the forum for threads about other people's cabinet builds. The next best thing to learning by doing is learning from other people's doing (and their mistakes). :)

edit: As for struggling, such a project can really help getting your mind off it. My cab did the same for me when I suffered over the temporary loss of a very close platonic friendship with my ex-girlfriend because her new partner couldn't bear it even after a couple of open talks with both of us. He's already history and we both have new partners by now, but that doesn't diminish the help I had from my project.

In RetroPie, the NeoGeo system is separate, so you can copy the NeoGeo romset collection to the neogeo folder and the arcade only romset to arcade.
You can combine them if you want, but you might want to keep neogeo separate just in case you'd want a different configuration applied to it (see this post for an example of why you'd want that).

Was that the right folder to place my roms in? They are from a 0.78 set - emulation station can see them but not attract mode?

I can't help you with attract-mode setup, I'm not using it. I think you need to add the folder yourself and scan it for ROMs.

I did wonder if the system volume at 0% was the issue but that's something that just wont save when I set it higher?

If you disabled the on-board sound and your USB soundcard is the only output option, then the in EmulationStation the Audio Card should be set to 'Defaut' and the Default Device to PCM or Master (?). But the settings here affect only EmulationStation and not AttractMode or the emulators, so if you're not using EmulationStation, it's ok to leave them at defaults.

@colstar since that's not the version of any of our recommended arcade emulators in my previous link (or indeed any of the supported arcade emulators in retropie at all), i would forget it and acquire the set for one of them instead.

@sirhenrythe5th said in Which Mame is suggested for the a Pi 4 with 4GB of Ram?:

@Jiryn But you got it working now?
Hint: if you map "Cancel GUI" to "select" + "start" you can exit the games like you are used to with the lr-emulators ;)
Hint2: if you furthermore want to get rid of the exit-menu, set "safe_exit=0" in the AdvanceMame-config-file.

Sadly no, when I hit tab and try to configure my controller it just ignores it
I've tried both general and this game and neither seems to accept the inputs of the controller

      Unless I am missing something
      Games run great though!

      Nm fixed it!
I have to hold the buttons to register...I can be a derp
How do I save it though? When I switch or reset all my controls disappeared

@PbOak - I think you should be able to get most of you answers with a little research. It really depends on what Pi model you purchase. All the power requirements for each model are readily available with a Google search. The power supplies typically recommended are planning for the maximum power draw and not necessarily reflective of the actual power draw. Each persons setup is different. It's the same for a screen it depends on which model you purchase and then researching the technical specs.

The rest will require more planning on your part. Your estimated and peak power usage per day for lights, phone, etc. Calculating the watts per panel, battery size, battery capacity, battery banks, converters, etc. Mostly sunny days, cloudy.

I think most of the answers you'll need to research with your friend to fit your setup but to cover most Pi models a 5 to 5.1V, even 5.25V, 3A should do the trick. The rest is up to you! ;)

@iandaemon What about the title "Lock N Chase" or that "Tower of Druaga" game, I remember in the Tower of Druaga: The Aegis of Uruk anime they had a cocktail arcade cabinet in the dungeon of that very game.

@quicksilver Awesome job on the fairly grueling calibration of Hard Drivin. Can you, by chance..please share your nvram for this or any other similarly minded games! That would be absolutely awesome! I am hoping to do as many of the more complicated Racing Game calibrations, as feasibly possible. And, these calibrations, we can make permanent, code wise, too! That way, noone will have to calibrate them in future revisions of our MAME code base:) Already have many done, such as Carnevil, Terminator 2, Revolution X, etc, etc.

It can be violent if ya want it to be..........

      Defensive controls (not in possession):

-- Sliding Tackle: Shoot / Tackle Button
-- Punch: Press the Pass button near an opponent player
-- Jump Kick: Press the Pass button while running towards an opponent player
-- Pull Shirt: Press the Pass button behind an opponent player

If it's not this game then you might wanna check the other fitba games MAME supports and maybe one the pics will jog your memory best of luck.
