Yes I have a pi 4. I did manage to make some changes to the settings it was a challenge lol. I can change the internal Drastic views on a horizontal screen. But I want the whole screen rotated 90 degrees(vertical) so when I stack the screen top/bottom it uses up most of the viewing area. Here's what I would like to achieve on Drastic. This is what my lr-desmume looks like.

@mitu it's the same emulator, and the menu runs normal on desktop, I assume it's the drivers for the gamepad or something? In retropie it runs like that but on desktop the menu doesn't run glitchy Couldn't we run in retropie but some how when launch, use the desktop I want to say x11 for now? Idk I guess for now, I did try n2 or xu4 a few weeks ago and one ran a bit less glitches out, I'll let you know.

Hi, Can you give some pointers on how you did it?
I would like to do the same for a ps4 controller.
I tried editing the config file but I can't figure out the bindings (number) of my controllers buttons. I checked the emulstation config file for the bindings but they're not the same?

@T0biasCZe I actually am looking into this same thing. I was able to successfully rotate the screen 90 degrees for only the desmume emulator everything else stays horizontal, however the touch screen doesn't work.(my issue with it) I have not been able to figure out how to get drastic to flip vertically as it does work with a touchscreen. I have an image of what my desmume looks like with the change.

You will want to access the NDS folder and look for retroarch config file. retropie/configs/nds/retroarch.cfg. This will load an override config for the NDS emulator when it launches. Next you will want to edit it. I connect with Windows and make the change in Notepad++. You will want to add the line line video_rotation = "1" or video_rotation = "3" above the #include line. That should turn your screen the other way.

Another way it could be edited is to go in through the Retropie settings and choose Retroarch. Once there settings -> video-> output-> video rotation. after you make the change here go back to the rtroarch main menu you should see the configuration file. save as new config. You should be able to use that new file in place of the retroarch.cfg.

From what I understand, the version of DraStic that we have access to is just a generic ARM build and isn't well optimized. It works ok on previous pi models under the legacy Vc4 drivers, but using fkms on the pi 4 it seems to have issues.

@tobas i think desmume is LLE while drastic is HLE (http://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/High/Low_level_emulation)

@mitu that worked! Now I'm getting an error "1v10: VolumeControl::init() - Failed to attach to default card!" But the sound is working, so I dont know if it's a big deal or not.

@NINJAcupcake798 drastic is not open source so there is currently no chance of a libretro version. However the main dev for drastic posted something recently that he would be open sourcing drastic after the new year so there is some hope that there may be in the future.

@quicksilver Yeah it generally works a lot better and doesn't crash whenever the mic is looked for by the rom though. I'd love to see more screen orientation options, perhaps a book mode as that would make stuff like rhythm paradise and hotel dusk playable. They already load and play now, but having them at a 90 degree angle on your tv isn't much use.

Yes its still in progress, its decided that the open source fork will be a Retroarch core so that users on multiple systems and not just phones can play it. Wed Jan 13, 2021 4:20 am

@Brigane Actually they didn't stop - there was an update in August (see this topic). There's hope that one day it might be open sourced.

@mitu yup it seemed to remember the controller when it was the only one plugged in. What I’ve noticed is that the controller is switching to and from JS0 to JS1. I just configured it with the keyboard and it’s JS0 again. I’m wondering if having multiple controllers plugged in at one time might be the issue. I’ll try running Drastic and using just the lone PS4 controller and hopefully it works out!
