      Return the system and / or ask for your money back. We don't offer support for 3rd party systems, especially the ones sold and pre-loaded with ROMS.

      @mitu

      You said it was dark grey, not colored.

      No, I ment it has the same color as the background, it is dark grey.

      Either way, if you have the RetroPie info shown when you exit EmulationStation, then it means the normal prompt should also be present and available.

      If I exit EmulationStation it's just this screen, no cursor, it seems to me that it is loading, but just nothing happens then, even after 5 minutes.

      @rhester72 said in joy2key_sdl.py doesn't support my controller:

      To make RA happy, I had to hand-configure the controller in Retroarch (GUI) itself and save from there, which produced the "not-normalized" device name in the configuration file.
      [..]

      OK, so the other possibility of a device name mismatch is the configuration being created outside of EmulationStation's scripts - in this case via RetroArch itself. In any case, this kind of setups will hopefully be better supported by joy2key in the future.

      @enjoilogic14 said in No gamepad detected - total newbie:

      I am able to get to the configuration menu but it does not detect my wired controller nor my wired keyboard in any of the USB ports

      Are the keyboard/controller not detected even if they are directly connected to the Pi's USB ports ? Are you using a proper power supply for the Pi ? Does it work if you connect just the keyboard directly to the Pi ?

      @tar
      The bit I used was about the size of the shaft/thread, or so I thought.. the smallest I owned.
      I admit I DID go full speed.

      I'm afraid I probably destroyed the board by now.

      I was using a 1/16 drill bit made for all surfaces
      alt text

      I took the bits to a local do it yourself hardware place (Locally owned ace) and they tried to sell me 2 things, a borer and this screw removal kit..

      alt text

      I've tried all of them, none worked...

      @arvis1 NEVERMIND, i found the issue. In this thread: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/34661/solved-remove-pulseaudio-and-revert-back-to-alsa/3
      The issue was that using purge on pulseaudio did not fully uninstall, so you have to go into the retropie setup as detailed in this guide.

      You may want to use the Configuration Editor and choose to change the joystick order for the systems where you want the X360 pads to be player 1/2 instead of the arcade panel's 2 players.

      Please add some more info about your setup, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

      I assume that by 'not detected', you mean you can't configure it in EmulationStation ? Can you try to test the gamepad with jstest (see here and see if it works ?
      Please post the result of the following commands:

      cat /proc/bus/input/devices lsusb

      Did you try updating EmulationStation ? The current stable release is 2.11.2, while you're still on version 2.10.1 from almost 3 years ago.

      The fixed libsdl2 package in Ubuntu has been released a couple of week ago, after the bug/regression has been reported last year. If you have used the workaround of installing the RetroPie's SDL2 package, you can now un-pin the package and use the distro's package instead.

      Changelog at https://changelogs.ubuntu.com/changelogs/pool/main/libs/libsdl2/libsdl2_2.30.0+dfsg-1ubuntu3.1/changelog. Even though the fix was added in Jan 2025, the updated package was added to the updates repositories on 29 Apr 2025.
