EDIT: Never mind! I got it now, just didn't saw the solution you posted, because I was confused. Thank you! Just use the already existing configs folder through Samba and add the themes folder manually in emulationstation. It works, thousands times thank you.

@dudleydes I just don't know how to do this. How can I create the connection to this folder through Samba? Searching this gets me confusing, I just can't get around it. In Nautilus, I use the smb://retropie/ path to get a selection of 5 folders to access from: bios, configs, print$, roms and splashscreens. I don't know if I added one of them manually and if I did, I don't remember how. I wish there would be a sixth folder to access, the theme folder. Can I add it there?

      Scott Adams text adventure

Nice, i like the Idea for Text Adventures, but my Games are also Playable with multi-language support or without any language. For german and other non-english User are the Games playable. The Adams text adventure are only in english and hard to play for kids and Users with bad English Skills for an text Adventure.

@mktaia You should probably take this to their forum - http://orangepi.club/index.php
I have both a raspberry pi and an orange pi, myself. Orange Pi is still on Jessie, whereas Raspi is now on Stretch. There are going to be differences.

You can, but only if you use the default video player. OMX does not support layers and will be always the top most element.

      SNES mini theme

The SNES mini theme seems to support a few 4:3 resolutions, look in the config.xml file inside the theme folder.

it looks like this theme repository doesn't exist anymore. paging @BuZz - guess it can be removed from https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/blob/06d4418ed485f701ce42f61e9a1777142c0fd946/scriptmodules/supplementary/esthemes.sh ?

after that is done, you could update your setup script and try again.

@rxbrad I think the latest stable version is available here: https://github.com/jrassa/EmulationStation/releases/tag/continuous

Thanks... I was able to grab ES v2.7.4 (Feb 2017 build) with that link, which is better than the v2.2.0 that I was only able to find on my own.

Interesting how the horizontal-wheel carousel apparently works on that build (was added late-January I think), but not the official build that came with Retropie v4.4 in April.

You'd probably be better off researching if you need 128GB at all to start with. The fact that some emulators are listed as working does not mean the games are actually 100% playable, so you need to think if you're okay with stunted performance. The demanding systems are probably better dealt with on a single-game basis, checking compatibility wikis and all that.

@ectoone said in Es Theme - Questions:

Simple answer, you can't do it.
Videos are not supported on system view, and most elements can only be used once.

      Thanks for the tip

Now I like your idea, but for me personally, it needs some work.

      The font is terrible.

I'm sorry, I can't sugar coat it. It's barely legible looking at it on my computer, and the size and spacing you need to use to help people read it takes away from the overall look. There are a thousand better pixel based fonts that would suit this far better.

The system logo is far too big.

It's taking up a ton of real estate that would be better used for a games list. The user should have an idea what system they are on, so it doesn't need to be what your eyes are drawn too. Personally I would scrap it all together, or maybe split the rating, etc box into 2 smaller ones and put the logo there and then have the information a bit smaller.

      Spacing/Consistency.

It seems kind of slapped together with a general idea of a layout, but no set spacing. The games list is closer to the top than the bottom as well it's further from the left side than the box other side of the screen. Visually it looks so much nicer when things are evenly spaced, and it's such an easy thing to master.

I'm attaching an image below of an old theme I had made like 3 or so years ago just as a suggestion as to how I would approach this. As you can see I create my full layout with guides and then build using them, even spacing between all the windows as well we as the edges.

      spacing

      Tiles

Use hard pixels since you're basing your design off of a pixel game. In both NES and SNES the tiles you've used are blurry, they should be crisp, as well the bricks in the NES should be the same size as the blocks. To be real picky I'd also say the bricks and blocks should be the same orientation since they are in the game, but maybe that's too much.

Again I like the style of the theme, but needs to be cleaned up a bit to really grab the interest, at least personally to me. I apologize for being an overly critical person, but when someone asks for criticism, I assume they want to hear more then "it looks great", when there are obvious flaws.
