@Gobon-Shiteinga You can get both running using lr-mess, although the process can be a bit tricky at times.
Electron runs fine on my end using lr-mess, the BBC machines not so much.

This might be a good place for you to start.

You will also need to get familiar with RetroPie's documentation on MESS.

not update until optimizations are in place

Well, i doubt that's gonna happen soon, netlist emulation has been around for 10 years and always required a somehow good cpu. It'll probably take some time before they make another breakthrough performance-wise, and i'm not sure the MAME team even care about performance in the first place.

Of course fb-neo is another alternative

Actually, this driver is the only vector games driver we are missing. In my previous post i was talking about netlist emulation in general, since it's used in most 70s and early 80s games, i guess we'll keep using samples for now.

@Muffy The overheating problem is solved by updating the raspberry pi kernel, which you have to update manually in the terminal.

@Tomaz Seriously, the amount of fat you trimmed from ES was absurd - I did not recall (but now I do :D ) the amount of time ES took to compile!

I appreciate the RetroAchievements feature! 😊

A few days ago the Digital Ocean had problems on the exact datacenter where the RetroAchievements VPS is hosted. Maybe that's the problem faced by @jandalf81 and @IanDaemon

By the way, the RANews have been just released:

Dredging this topic back up since I haven't messed with this yet...

Can you use only canned loading animations or is it customizable?

EDIT: Let me qualify my question a bit more...

Can you specify your own loading image/animation? Is there an option to display it for a certain period of time? This may seem like a weird ask...but...on faster x86 systems, the loading screen may be displayed for like a second which just seems silly.

    Final update!

After countless hours, the final update is here!
There are 955 Famicom covers to be used with your frontend of choice (which I am assuming to be Retropie for obvious reasons).
You can get the Zip file here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/is2fp6d0xlhv094/FamicomCovers.zip?dl=0
I hope that, for those interested in the console, my time has been dedicated to something you gonna enjoy.

Most covers could use better images and I'm quite aware that some covers don't look particularly good, but none of them look offensively bad.
However I've added a list of games that I need better images to work with, so if you have them and can send me high resolution photos or scans, please do so. Some of these games are particularly rare, so even digging through Yahoo Auctions and Mercari I couldn't find them.

Anyway, that's it for this thread.

@mitu said in Splitwolf: 2-4 player co-op Wolfenstein 3D on RetroPie:

@f33dbacknz The error printed during installation can be fixed by installing the rename package (via sudo apt install rename). Try installing it the package and then re-run the installation for splitwolf.

It should be added as a dependency of splitwolf then.

6 player X-Men! Amazing. So is this version available if I build from Source?

Yes, i don't know if retropie updated its binaries since those improvements.

I am looking at X-Men 6 Player now.

I haven't plugged in 6 controllers yet, but my RetroArch settings only show up to "Port 5 Controls". Would it work with 6 players, or does the fact I can only configure up to 5 mean that is the limit?

Yep, that works! I just need to find all my controllers now and then I'll give 6 player a try!

    Thank you.

You don't actually want to do that with the cartridge as it will wear down the connectors but also, it's not very easy at all to remove the cartridge once it's in there anyways. It's clearly not meant to encourage you to keep swapping it in and out and mainly just for show.

Yes, I think I've seen a couple posts about using the driver successfully with RetroPie.
