  • Why does emulation slow down with a bad power supply?

@Cayaco Anything using electricity is not just on or off. The amount of electricity being used is called power (measured in Watts) and when a computer is doing more, it requires more Power. If your power supply cant deliver the power, a computer can be programed to recognize that not enough power is there and slow down, or you'll just get crashing and shutdowns.

@JeffwithaG You Don't Know Jack (2 editions) for the PS1 and Quiz and Dragons under MAME are both great trivia games!

@jamrom2 True. Maybe he was thinking exclusively of Pi4/Pi5 spec devices. The Zero generally lags behind by a generation or so, currently being similar in spec to the Pi3. I've never really seen the point of the 'A' boards especially when the compute boards exist.

@hoeveler said in Any 'off the shelf' solutions for trackball/spinner/flightstick?:

@George-Spiggott @chubsta - I purchased the parts for my arcade build including a spinner and trackball and flightstick (Ultrastik 360). They all have USB connection so they ARE plug and play, but you still have to mount them somehow. So I've been using an old fightstick I got for $10 on craigslist to test them with. It isn't too hard if you wanted to use or build an enclosure. I guess I'm just chiming in to say that it's really just the mounting process that's a bit of work, not the connecting to Pi part, other than the usual adjustments in retroarch and ES

Dang... if I weren't already committed to the parts I purchased and the custom build I have in mind, I would take a look at Wal-mart this week! The 1UP Tempest could be worth taking apart and using just the control panel and controls for the price it's going for. I hope this doesn't get flagged for promotion or something, but just take a look because a spinner alone like I got is $90, and a trackball is also $90. Those were the two most expensive components, and for $10 more you have an entire (3/4 scale) cabinet!

how noticable are these priority issues? I'm unfamiliar with this game.

Not sure, i only learnt about this old bug while checking if the game had many dump revision. Furthermore i only played it in FinalBurn which i think never suffered from this.

The train is mentioned in that commit, so i'd suppose it might be affected by this problem.

@akr8080 Some controllers don't expose the turbo button, but internally activate the turbo feature when you press it along with the other button where the turbo function is applied. Maybe the Brawler64 is similar, but can't find a manual for the controller to confirm.

One more thing to note. While this may be a method to back up a game for your console, it won't work on any other switch console as the files are digitally signed. If you want to create a more universal type of backup you will need to look into homebrew.

Additional info in case anyone needs it.
Apparently this rom is one that might also use a dip switch setting to select between 4 player or 2 player cabinet hardware.

Yes, when I want to play a game that doesn't work correct with lr-pcsx-rearmed I am using swanstation, so far I don't have issues. The development looks active but I think, without be a developer, that they don't do something significant, they are cleaning the code.

By the way, the development of pcsxrearmed is very active, the emulator is improved very mutch.

@mitu That's less of a problem than I initially thought as these also seem to be going for exorbitant prices at the moment. I did spot a monka Retropie build in the background in another video, but if the hardware is massively overpriced....
