    @grant2258 said in mame 2003 dat wrong just to let you guys know:

    im not sure if this is the right thread or if i should start another one ive made a little script to grab all the mame2003 game names from the dat and compare them to the catver.ini

    I think this would be better placed in a new thread, as this one is about the MAME 2003 entry in the docs.

    Hi,

    I've recently put together a Retropie kit with RPI 3 and SN30 Pro controllers. I realise that these are not your controller and I'm pretty sure that this information came from this site, but in order for the controllers to be recognised as js0 and js1 they needed to be started in macOS mode (START+A), when used with the USB cables on a RPI. I also updated the firmware on the controllers.

    There is a command line tool (jstest) that can be used to test them. Again there is are youtube videos on this (checkout Floob's vids)

    @raulitob Check if you have a custom es_systems.cfg in /home/pi/.emulationstation/ and rename it, then restart Emulationstation. If you have the right ROMs in /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/coleco, then the system should show up in Emulationstation.
    There is another - actively maintained - web manager for RetroPie, you should check out Webtropie.

    @mikee You should update also the RetroPie setup script, the latest version is not 4.3.8. Do the update for the setup script, then update Emulationstation again.

    @xvo Reicast doesn't have BBA emulation support. Demul on Windows is the only DC emulator that can play online, as far as I know.

    There are premade disc images for Sylverant called PSO DC Ives Pack 2.0. They're all bugfixed, online and offline capable and ready to go. Not linking them here, obviously.

    I'm sure there are other private servers out there too.

    @whistlernl when i wired up my ipac in my apple iie pi i specifically programmed button a as enter and button b as space and start as esc. This made it pretty well setup for vice as those are the 3 most used keys in vice. Not sure why some games on c64 require hitting escape to get past some title screen/instructions screen while also using space or enter in that same game?

    @tim-mac

    It's best to stay away from video tutorials anyway, as they become outdated often. Everything you need to get the system up and running is covered in the official documentation. If you have any questions about the specifics, or hit any roadblocks, post back and we'll try to help as best we can.

    Also, if you do end up making a help request, make sure you detail the information requested at https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

    So to update.. Yes it the retroarch-joyconfig idea I had above works :)
    I finally got my head around the joystick stuff

    Global style:
    input_a_btn

    Individual Player style
    input _playerx _a_btn

    So if you only want a certain brand of gamepad to take over for player 3 and 4, you'd edit the retroarch-joypad/mygamepad.cfg file and add the "_player3" bit there. You can add a _player4 copy as well. This will leave player1 and player2 alone and force the gamepads to 3 and 4.

    Alternatively, if you don't want it to be limited to certain gamepads, you can remove the retroarch-joypad/ files and just put those same lines directly into the main retroarch.cfg file (or per system if you like) and have any gamepad of the same mapping style work. This is good for those generic chinese ps2 style gamepads with the usb dongle.

    As herb_fargus shows above, follow the usb index and set the indexing in the retroarch.cfg with
    input_player3_joypad_index = "2"
    input_player4_joypad_index = "3"

    Which doesn't necessarily follow the usb ports one for one... but those usb ports assign the default indexing on startup. For example, I have a dongle that supports 2 ps2 gamepads in one, but it still indexes them as 2 and 3 because they are loading up in the system as those indexes, regardless of actual physical usb port.

    Thx all

    might not be related but when i shutdown and physically take the power off overnight. My wifi stops working i have to remove the usb dongal and put it in again for the system to work again. It doesnt do this everytime just most times it does. The thing is i have to shut my pie down because its in a bartop and there is no support to turn the monitor off just a screensaver that leaves the backlight on

    @Nossral

    I would go with RetroTINK Ultimate and a VGA to Scart cable with two external Audio connections.

    To get better audio instead of using the built-in 3.5mm audio jack a would recommend a usb soundcard.

    @skullmonkey It's already done and in version 0.81
    I called it BashROMManager

    It does not support subdirectories but let us select ROMs folder for each system.
    Feel free to test and report bugs into the thread.

    Thats a good question because the wiki doesn't describe anything about it anymore. It seems like the information has been removed.

    That is by design. When you create a custom config and put it in the .emulationstation location it will not be overwritten by updates and other changes.

    This post popped up at a great time as well. Looking to get this system running soon. Thanks.
