@journeyman when binding the 'start' button will be your p1 start, and the select button will be your coin button. i don't know any shootemups that use more than 4 buttons.

Update for any future google searchers. I installed Ubuntu 16.04 and everything is working fine, I don't have a particular need to be on 17.04 but it would be nice to know why it is having issues for me. I'm still open to suggestions but in the meantime I’ll stick with 16.04 for now.

I did another install run to get the log files and it installed. No idea what changed but it's working fine now. Thanks for your help anyway.

@pjft Thanks! I am using 8bitdo FC30s, and in all my searching, somehow never came across that thread. Will look into it! My benchmark was being able to play Mike Tyson's Punchout, although in reality I could never beat that game even when I was a kid :)

@nowarrivinghere i never got it to ever work either. Advmess is a pain and i only got a handful of systems running on that one.

That's a shame. I was hoping it was something I could fix on my own. I do love my Japanese computers. I'm glad to see that an official Retropie guide for the PC-88 emulator showed up within the past few months at least.

Which core files did you change to make your normal arcade setup work?

Im beginning to think its an issue with either retroarch or raspian itself on how its reading streamed data from a disk. It seems to happen when trying to read music or a video. Not only am i getting pauses and stops in pix games, but also sega cd games. hmmm

@chipsnblip the error is user error, if shaders are installed through the setup script it works fine

@herb_fargus Do you have a preference on SD Card? I bounce back and forth between Sandisk and Samsung.

@dankcushions heyyy I know this is pretty old but I'm having this issue and enabling the battle fix thing didn't do anything :(
