@quasimaddboy neither. They mean the script itself. From the main menu (not the "manage packages" submenu), choose Update (updates the setup script and all installed packages) or Update RetroPie-Setup script (does what it says on the tin, updates just the setup script but not the underlying packages. The first one takes a lot longer.)

    @barbudreadmon Thank you, Nailed it!

Disabling the expired DST_Root_CA_X3.crt fixes the issue. Re-running the setup and/or a clean install, both completed successfully.

I've attached the config.txt file below for your reference. This is post driver installation:
    [..]

Nothing out of the ordinary, though I don't know why I2C is enabled (you're using I2S), maybe something else added it.

Regarding the log, not sure how to show a list of errors but I do have the errors listed here upon crashing:

This looks like a memory/disk issue, though that's an error log from EmulationStation and not from the emulator. The emulators' log is stored in /dev/shm/runcommand.log.

Your website certificates are out of date with an older iPad or smartphone. Basically you’ll have to upgrade your device. There was some recent news about this.

    Thanks for the reply.
I did had that feeling too that it was a problem with the certificates, I wasn't directly sure about that.

How to update I don't know as the IPAD1 is a past the end of live (EOL).
Mine is jailbroken though, perhaps I can just add some certificate file somewhere.

Do you know more about that ?

    Edit :
I Just found this link, perhaps it's useful :

I Will look at it later.

Rtype Leo shouldn’t need anything real special to run in Mame. Most of your games will run in the mame 4 all mame2003. But you’ll want to test some of your games in mame libretro 2003 plus. You have access to more cores like mame 2016. Also try Final Burn Neo. I run my games through retroarch on the pc to test them first then place them on my pi 4.

Avoid doing a basic install or update retropie after your fresh install. For some odd reason updating or doing this causes rearmed core to stop working.

@a1eg said in Unable to install joy2key after update Retro-Pie Setup script:

I only want to upgrade my Atari800 emulator from version 4.0.0 to current version 4.2.0

Is there any way to do it without doing an update of Retro-Pie Setup script?

The 4.2.0 version is related to the the setup script version - the 4.2.0 version for the Atari800 emulator was added in version 4.6 so you'll need to update to at least that version to be able to install 4.2.0 using the RetroPie-Setup script.

You can manually change the scriptmodule and modify the version, then install the emulator from source, but as I said, there's no guarantee it would work.

Sorry to bring up an older thread, but much of the information here is highly inaccurate and is mostly due to people buying cheap flash drives and SD cards which are very hit-and-miss. I've tested in my Raspberry Pi 4b 4gb a Samsung EVO Select 64gb Micro SD, Sandisk Ultra 16gb Micro SD, and Kingston Canvas Go Plus 64gb Micro SD and they don't come anywhere near the performance of my Sandisk Extreme 3.0 16gb USB flash drive.

Here is the Samsung EVO 64gb Benchmarks: https://pibenchmarks.com/benchmark/51099
And here is the Sandisk Extreme 3.0 (for some reason it was identified improperly by the benchmark program. This doesn't change the performance numbers): https://pibenchmarks.com/benchmark/51100

Here is a link to the actual drive. https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Extreme-Flash-Drive-SDCZ80-016G-GAM46/dp/B00KT7DOR0

Booting from the Samsung Evo Select takes about 10 seconds longer than the Sandisk Extreme 3.0 usb stick.

That benchmark website pibenchmarks.com has tons of information on what drives are fast and what isn't. My USB 3.0 Samsung FIT drive is absolute hot garbage when running on a Pi 4. The fastest MicroSD cards do about 1700 points on the benchmark, There are USB sticks that score as high as 5,000 points. Then there are M.2 drives using USB 3 adapters which score over 10,000 points. Where USB Flash sticks and actual SSD/m.2 drives really excel is in the 4k random read/write tests which are the most important thing when it comes to performance.

@lamaman1971 Aside from MAME2003+, MAME cores have a very shallow libretro implementation preventing some stuff from working properly, which is why it's recommended to prefer MAME2003+ or FBNeo with the appropriate romsets if the game you are trying to play is supported.

You might be able to force the values you want by directly editing MAME config files, but i wouldn't be able to help with the details, and i don't recommend asking the MAME team for help about this.

@roslof I'm running into the same problem that you had originally with emulation station hanging and freezing. I'm trying to find the .cpp file that you noted so I can amend the vlc options to "original" but am having no luck. Can you point me to the directory where I would find the file or the command line prompt to load it

@dalagoth You can't. Simply put, the Pi 3 isn't capable of emulating either the Gamecube or the PS2, let alone at full speed.

@monsterrob said in Wii U Pro Controller will not connect:

@mitu I have the most up to date version of retropie with nothing added so do you think your second point applies, I have read it but I wouldn’t know where to start with removing a configuration.

Please add the rest of the info requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

Removing a configuration is done from the Bluetooth menu, using the Remove Bluetooth Device entry.

What happens if you manually type emulationstation in the terminal ? What error message do you get ?
