      @gtoilet if you mean the configure a controller screen, the info you want is in the docs: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/RetroArch-Configuration/

      Scroll down to the bit where it shows the controllers and what each button on them corresponds to in retroarch. That'll show you what to map each N64 button as. Anything else you don't have on the 64 pad, hold any button on the controller to skip it.

      @notechskill said in "B" turns to "X" on second controller after restart:

      @danielmewhouse just to be clear. On my keyboard hit f4 and go to the command prompt and type in exactly what you have typed out there?

      If your problem is on EmulationStation, use "sudo nano /home/pi/.emulationstation/es_input.cfg" to edit the file. You'll need to find the X and B buttons on the config file and swap the id value.

      i could be wrong, but sudo shouldn't be necessary when editing files in one's own home directory

      I'm pretty sure I've got this sorted out now. It's set up pretty close to how the N64 layout was. I changed the rumblepak switch to requiring a hotkey to be activated. Current setup is below.

      DPad R = "button(13)"
      DPad L = "button(14)"
      DPad D = "button(16)"
      DPad U = "button(15)"
      Start = "button(9)"
      Z Trig = "button(6)"
      B Button = "button(1)"
      A Button = "button(0)"
      C Button R = "axis(2+)"
      C Button L = "axis(2-)"
      C Button D = "axis(3+)"
      C Button U = "axis(3-)"
      R Trig = "button(5)"
      L Trig = "button(4)"
      Mempak switch = "button(11)"
      Rumblepak switch = "“J0B8/B12”"

      Analog axis configuration mappings

      X Axis = "axis(0-,0+)"
      Y Axis = "axis(1-,1+)"
      Joy Mapping Stop = "J0B8/B9"

      @colebeansbroskie if you have two sets of joysticks and buttons you have to set up the buttons the exact same way. You never have to configure player 2. Once you set up one, after rebooting your system both will work. If the buttons are different on player 2, it means you put them in the wrong order. You need to set up player one then reboot. Then go into a game that uses all your buttons and in that game press a button on player one and see what it does. then find that same button on player two. Now put that button in the same spot player one has it. Keep doing that until all the buttons match.

      @AlexMurphy

      A lack of alternatives is never great, but I'm always thankful when I have at least one option available. Building a better mouse trap would be ideal here. The list of features already outweighs anything I've seen on Mac and Windows, but the ease of use could definitely be improved. Maybe someday that will happen, or perhaps even a challenger will rise through the ranks. Until then, sometimes we just have to dance with the only available partner. Even if it is TINA.

      @Sano said in Exit to Main Menu instead of System menu:

      I see a major flaw in this :
      If people just browse games without playing, the loop will continue.
      Couldn't it be more efficient to look at ES screensaver, in order to stop video preview after a period of time ?
      Other solutions include : video without sound, or a fixed number of loops.
      Just my point of view :)

      Looking forward to see your theme.

      "Tell me what you need, I'll explain how you can do without it".
      Too much time on linux IRC channels I think ;)

      The browsing issue is a good and valid point I had not thought of, hmmm.....

      I had thought about doing videos without sound but don't like that solution for 2 reasons:

      remaking all of the videos would be a pain many people I talked to liked having the sound during selection as it helps bring back some of the nostalgia

      I also do have a screensaver in place but unless I really shorten the delay it doesn't help much with some of the game noises being obnoxious at times.

      I think I might actually be ok with a fixed number of loops. However, when I looked through the theme documentation I didn't see any way or option to set this. Is there a property or something I missed that can be used to do this?

      Thanks,

      @dowobeha

      my controller has a D-pad, a left analog stick, and a right analog stick. I would like all three of these to act as movement controllers when in the NES emulator.

      You can mirror the DPad the the left or right joystick for the NES specifically by adding:

      input_player1_analog_dpad_mode = "1"

      for the left stick, or:

      input_player1_analog_dpad_mode = "2"

      for the right stick to /opt/retropie/configs/nes/retroarch.cfg. To mirror the DPad to both sticks at the same time, as well as your other requests, you'd need to employ an external mapping solution such as Linux Joystick Mapper or xboxdrv.

      Thank you for the reply. I'm using the Pi supply.

      The controller works on the pc for my emulators great. So not sure what the issue is here.

      I have ordered a snes one from PiHut now. See how that goes.

      Once again thanks for the reply.
