I'd unfortunately second @Capeman 's suggestion. Enter the favorites list, and just press Y until they're gone. There's no way to clear it in a single step.

If you scrape those games again though it might clear the favorites flag, depending on the scraper you're using and whether it overwrites existing metadata. That's also an option.

Why exactly are you trying to clear them, though, just out of curiosity? Removing and adding them back won't get you any metadata for those games. You need to scrape them. Probably they weren't scraped as setting then as favorites added them to the gamelists, and the scraper might skip games that already have entries there?

I know this topic is quite old but I have been unable to find any new relevant info in my fairly extensive searching. Has an OSK been implemented in anyway, addon, optional package, etc?

I want to create this OSK feature if nobody else has. My reasoning is not for wifi passwords as much as for actual emulator ease of use. For example, in the TI99/4A emulator you only need a keyboard to press "2" to start the game. After that it can be all joystick. A simple OSK would help with that and some other emulators.

If I decide to jump into this where would one start, EmulationStation, RetroArch, or individual emulator cores?

I picture this OSK being pulled up with the joypad hotkey anywhere in the middle of an emulation session.

I program but have never looked at the project's code. This task doesn't seem daunting on the surface..but I could be wrong. Any help appreciated in where to start. Thank you.

Update for any future google searchers. I installed Ubuntu 16.04 and everything is working fine, I don't have a particular need to be on 17.04 but it would be nice to know why it is having issues for me. I'm still open to suggestions but in the meantime I’ll stick with 16.04 for now.

I spent some time this morning coming up with a better approximation based on plain observation as there's little documentation here.

I submitted a PR for it, so hopefully this should be improved shortly.

If anyone wants to take a stab at testing it, and is comfortable with compiling code (or using @meleu's script to install test branches) this is my dev branch, based on 2.6.3.

Place it somewhere on your pi, exit the main ES, run chmod +x emulationstation and then ./emulationstation and see how it performs at the different volume levels, especially compared to VLC.

Would love to hear your impressions. Be mindful that different videos have different volumes, as well as different hardware systems (i.e. emulators), but hopefully this performs better.

@herb_fargus @pjft thanks for the information guys. looks like the easiest way is to update all from binary than update ES from source, or update each individually.

Do others still have this with 4.3? I updated from 4.2.[something] (the version where Emulation Station's splash screen changed to black and Emulation Station gained support for video previews) on an RPi3, but still have this crash. I even rebuilt ES by source through the retropie_setup.sh interface.

I am using the selph scraper to fetch video previews, and as a part of that the "images" folder and the gamelist.xml file are now instde of each of the rom folders instead of under ~/.emulationstation. Has anyone else had this issue with the same situation? I might try nuking all of the scraped info to see if that improves stability.

@BuZz, is there a ticket out on this issue that we can follow?

@guest-001 The original poster had problems when starting runcommand.sh from /etc/rc.local, for which the solution was to change the /dev/tty to /dev/tty1.
There is no reported problem when using runcommand.sh normally, from ES, so I was wondering if you had a similar script set-up - especially since you were talking about noticing an error when a SSH connection was made before ES starts.
I don't know what might trigger your problems, but if you can reliably reproduce it from a RetroPie image, then share the steps necessary to get the error and we can try and see where the problem occurs.

I think you need to edit the first post to change its type to "Ask as Question". Don't know if it can be done retroactively.

Then you should be able to mark it as solved.

@omnija This theme looks great! Just a headsup, the A & B buttons on your controller splashscreen are labeled in reverse of what they are supposed to be. The B button is always to the left of the A button on the Nintendo controllers.
