@roslof Hi, not sure of the correct etiquette of commenting here, but I just wanted to take a moment and thank you for your efforts on your Retropie & N64 compatibility spreadsheet. I have been referencing it for some time now as I continue to build my arcade collection for my Pi400, but I checked it yesterday and noticed you completed it recently! A massive undertaking by you, and congrats! And I wanted you to know that I (and I'm sure others) appreciate your efforts! Good job! :-)
Kind of you and glad you've made use of the sheets. The project isn't over, as I update it from time to time when I have chunks of time available. Takes a few weeks to go through the ROMs, so can't do this with each major emulator release. Also some good help from a small number of people keeps me on my toes.
Thinking about handling CHD games next... We'll see.
@iandaemon that’s how I started, but your luck may vary. I found that most Konami beat em ups (tmnt, simpsons,, X-men) were not changed over the years and most neogeo games have not been changed in years. A lot of my old 2010 roms (actually from 2010)set worked on those particular roms worked with FBneo. And some even worked in mame 2003.
By the way, MAME 2003-Plus has four different button layout presets for gamepads and arcade sticks. See Default RetroPad Layouts in the Libretro wiki for MAME 2003-Plus. They should cover most games' button layouts.
@azurden it’s trivial to acquire mame roms of a certain version, but we can’t assist as per the rules. do not try and find roms and then determine their version after the fact - hundreds of mame rom versions so it will almost certainly be wrong. find the version you need.
You can compare the ones you have to these and double check your naming conversation. Make sure you done have ".rom.rom" or something like that either. Some desktops hide extensions. My guess is the check sum is off here for it not to include the file.
Looked at it again.
When starting it does nothing.
Looks like it uses cartridges so I added one in the mame ui.
It kinda worked after a while.
Not sure now if we should add it.
I can filter on media so it will not be added.
What do you think.
@lazaruz A pi4 is faster to handle the more accurate emulators but it also makes some new games playable. Taito F3 games are now full speed. You can play sega system16/18 games on fbneo without slowdown so I don't need to deal with mame2003's buggy bootlegs. You can use mame2010 or 2016 for bug-free system32 games like golden axe 2 and spiderman. 3d games like tekken, etc are still unplayable. If you can run your favorite games in fbneo now then there's no point using a pi4.
