What you had doesn't look like a RetroPie image - there is no ROM downloading included in any of the RetroPie software. You probably used a 3rd party image, which is not supported here: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

To keep files off the SD card I changed the .emulationstation to link else where. I did the update all option and saw it changed the symbolic link too. I guess the reasoning is to recreate a clean slate for those who have broken their existing setup.

@118k You'll have to do a bit of effort and provide answers for the questions in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first. Are you using a reliable SD card ?

Make sure the controller is set to connect in 'Android mode' (see http://download.8bitdo.com/Manual/Controller/SN30pro+SF30pro/SN30pro+SF30pro_Manual.pdf) when you pair it via Bluetooth and that you're using the 'default' connect mode in RetroPie.

and second one, i would like to play on super bomberman 3 with my friend but when i connected two xbox360 controller on my raspberry, i can't play with my 8bitdo. This 3rd one not even appeared on the select menu of character.

Are the controllers configured in RetroPie ?

The build fails because of a missing header file

./libretro-common/include/glsym/rglgen_headers.h:27:10: fatal error: EGL/egl.h: No such file or directory

Normally this should be part of the package libegl1-mesa-dev - you can manually install it before attempting the installation with:

sudo apt-get -y install libegl1-mesa-dev

I think you would run out of stretch parameter, as the max value is 2.0. Running 1080p at that stretch factor, you would end up with 150px pillarbox borders on the sides.

So, it is important to note for @cyclair that if you are planning to fill the screen with vertical games too, you will only get to stretch those to 84% of the widescreen at display_expand 2.0.

I had the same problem, but with my controls being turned 90° in th setup screens. Seems like those screens don't care about ES' controller configuration, but that can be easily fixed by connecting the joystick's microswitches in the "right" order on the encoder – if you're not using its single Sanwa port, that is.

@spruce_m00se Oh man, Atomic Bomberman was awesome. I wish I still had my CD of it but it's long gone. I can still hear that menu music playing clearly after all these years.

problem solved, my dolphin bar is broken, only one side is lit.

@drago-supremo The default settings - of the RetroArch included in RetroPie - is to use and preserve the apect ratio of the emulator used, scaled to the resolution of the your output.
If you still want to change it, you can use the Runcommand launch menu (https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Runcommand/#runcommand-launch-menu) to set the resolution per core (emulator) or game.

I installed adv-meme and change the .rc like the wiki said and now my trackball is working :)
I'm pretty happy now

@pickles I strongly suspect a faulty SD card. It's known that they get into a read-only state when they're approaching their end.

How can I create retropiemenu to my usb drive ?

Thanks for the help! I was using that particular tutorial because I found the official docs too technical and daunting for that matter, but I'll get over my trepidation and try it again. As for trying to launch from a desktop terminal, I'm not sure exactly what you mean. I have my RPi hooked up to my tv, never to my desktop computer. I didn't enable the GL driver, I skipped over everything in the raspi-config because I wanted just a basic set up, but I'll make sure it's off after I reinstall the image. Again thanks for taking time out of your day to read and respond! I can't wait to play!
