The date format is controlled by the theme, defaulting to MM/DD/YYYY if not specificed. You can add a format specifier by modifying the theme and adding

<format>%d/%m/%Y</format>

to the md_releasedate element used by the theme.

@chicuelo All those system descriptions are a nice touch. Did you write those all out by hand, or scrap and compile them somehow?

@navi87 It's easy - the -dev package is the development branch, where all new features/changes are added. Once in a while, this branch is promoted to stable, from where the regular emulationstation package in RetroPie is created.
So, you're trading stable for development.

Ah nevermind. I started to look into forks and one of them is perfect. Basically the switchos theme but it supports boxart and a few other things.

I tried to apply some of the themes from the list you linked and they don't work either. Same result as on the first screenshots I posted.

The Carbon theme kind of does apply but now breaks when opening a system:

I guess there's just something wrong with the package on AUR and I need to find some other way of installing the ES. Thanks for your help!

For the themes I create, some have 2 variants (_menu and _systems).

Their usage is setup for:

*_menu = meant for the Displays Menu/nested category displays
*_systems = meant for the individual systems displays

I'll be creating more 5x4 aspect ratio themes in the future as well.

I don't think anyone really replied as to the best theme for this type of setup? What themes that work well?

I'm doing the same kind of theme currently but for crt friendly display (very light ) :) . But I can't garantee the publishing for the moment because I use some artist works that need approval for sharing outside my personnal use. I complete with mine too, yes it's a long work.
Make sure you can use the drawings you find (if it's for community) because I have saw some beautiful blueprints style artworks of console but copyrighted and used in books or commercial merchandising.
