      It was indeed an issue related to the format of the runcommand-onstart.sh file - it was in DOS format. I opened/resaved it in MAC format (using nano). Problem solved. Thank you for your help!

      @theissdev I should also mention that this was really my only issue in moving from the Pi 3B+ to the Pi4. Everything else was super simple. Ledspicer required a manual reinstall on the Pi4 simply due to being a bin exe, but that was really it. Most of the old -> new stuff (artwork, custom theme, etc.) all ported over w/ 0 issues. Def. worth the wait. Thanks guys!

      I've been reading a littl emore and it seems it is possible to ignore the screens edid data. Instead I can use an edid.dat file with the values I want.

      I think I have to add hdmi_ignore_edid and hmi_edid_file to config.txt

      The only thing I don't know is how to create a an edid.dat file with the correct information.
      If someone knows (or even better, give me a better edid file) how to do this I think this problem is solveable.

      @paulo75 you'd be better asking questions at a specialist Retroarch forum. This forum is for Retropie and the varients of it for Pi and Linux installs really.

      @mr-berlin
      I see this post is a little old, but I have exactly the same problem. Did you find a solution in the end?

      I have read the posts above and will try out the suggestions, but I was hoping that "scaping" would automate the process so that I did not have to manually download or re-code all those videos.

      FYI - Raspberry Pi 4B 1GB Retropie 4.7.4 - Scraped with Steven Self’s optional scraper package.

      @dankcushions

      Yeah it does and it’s real nice and is a great option for sure.

      I think maybe I’ll go into a video editor and try to make a single video to use just for the fun of it.

      Most likely the USB stick is not 'mounted' (therefore inaccessible) when the splashscreen starts, so the video cannot be read and the splashscreen fails. Copying it to /opt/retropi.. will copy the splashscreen on the SD card, which is immediately available on boot.

      @Veggirop The cable looks correct, but it might be the cause of the B&W image (i.e. colours not being correctly set).
      Take a look at this RPI forum topic, which has a similar symptom and was solved by changing the cable.

      @cwalk828 Usually this is up to the theme, the scraper just downloads the files (images/videos) and adds them to the gamelist.xml used by Emulationstation. But I don't think this is supported by Emulationstation (playing video in the bg) - if you're interested in this kind of display I think Pegasus (another front-end) might support this.

      @mitu so far I've changed every setting I can find to fix this but it's either fully stretched or displays in the far right bottom corner with most of the screen cut off including the retroarch menu
      I gave up editing config files manually and just adjusted the screen from within retroarch gui, it ended up being an odd size resolution tho
