One further thing, I found by changing Terminal=false to true, then a terminal window will popup asking for a password, enter the password and it works.

So only conclusion I can draw is that it must be permissions related.

You can mount the usb stick once and then either link or mount its directories. For this simple purpose, links and mounts should be mere preference, although they have some differences. I prefer mounts for their heightened transparency to the system, but others prefer links.

Just search the web for either "linux symlinks" or "linux bind mount" for a ton of how-tos about them, like this one or this one.

edit: If you put the contents of roms in the root directory of the stick, you can also mount it directly onto the roms dir on your memory card. Mind that this will make anything in the card's roms dir unavailable for the duration of the mount.

For the benefit of anyone else stumbling upon this via Google (I understand the last post is a year old), and trying to get Retroarch to work with Parasite Eve 2 with PSX Beetle HW.

    PE2 really hates having certain settings changed from defaults. The 2 main ones are;

    -CPU Dynarec (disabled)
    -CD Loading Speed (2x)

Here's a quick screenshot of settings that should guarantee to work (with Retroarch on Windows anyway).

I guess that works too but I went into the actual Core config files, I cant remember the exact path, opt/retropie/configs.

@BuZz said in Make launch image appear longer?:

the image is displayed with another program that needs to exit before we load the emulator. The grey box is left on the terminal during loading which is different.

Interesting, I was actually wondering about this myself recently. Is there a reason it's not possible to load in the background while the image is displayed?

I just noticed the lha I am using is only 58k and could no way contain a game. It wasn't a problem with the Kickstarts, it was the lha. I switched to a good lha and the game is loading!

    Try editing /boot/config.txt with ignore_lcd=1
Then reboot. Your RPI should know show over HDMI instead of lcd

    @quicksilver

    First I downloaded the dos

PC folder pops up in my roms

I put a folder named "maddog"
( with Mad Dog McCree.iso) in there

I Start Dosbox from the menue +Dosbox+

First thing I notice it says

    Drive C is mounted "/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/pc/"

So the first thing I write is

    imgmount d "/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/pc/maddog /Mad Dog McCree.iso" -t iso -fs iso

    C:

    Install Mad Dog McCree.iso

I get to the install page and it's says it's going to install is as

    C:\maddog

    So it completes

Note says to run press MADDOG

    I'm back at dosbox

    C:\MADDOG:

I type in MADDOG as show here

    C:\MADDOG:MADDOG

    The game runs

I followed your advice here as shown

About creating a .conf file with what you provided

    So I restart emulation

    I see 2 MADDOG files

    I click them both

They both bring me to the command

I don't know what to do to run my game from here

The game only ran once , how come it won't start again , I thought I instlled it

Please help me , don't know what to do

    Hope you could help

    Thank you

Never-mind, I fixed it. I had a dstlk.cfg that needed to be corrected. Sorry!

@aidy80-s Its a shame Hard Drivin' lacked a self centering steering wheel. It's about as playable as the SNES version.

Two other popular scrapers, Selph's Scraper and Skyscraper, also support Screenscraper accounts, although not via the Retropie interface, but by their command line options and config files.

See The Docs and [these] [two] topics for more information about them.
