What Scraper are you using ? If it's the default ES one then maybe you have the "user decides conflicts" option on. With Off it does the job for all games (for the systems you selected).

This is my current setup for my portable case. Everything will fit inside a pelican 1200 series case.

I hope to be able to start putting everything together here in the next couple weeks. Have to wait on my face plates that im having 3d printed so i can mount everything to them that needs to be mounted.

@RoswellWitness I believe what lordward1234 did was navigate to the folder /opt/retropie/configs/mame-libretro/ and just delete the file retroarch.cfg. I would ssh into the pi, navigate to the file location and delete it.

I just checked what I'm using and I've got 10.2GB worth of ROMs loaded onto a 16GB SD card, so I'm missing 5.8GB. I understand that part of this is for RetroPie and all the emulators, but surely this does not require that much space.
Thoughts anyone?

I've never transferred stuff with that method but by reading the guide https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Transferring-Roms I see no mention of it also creating a bios folder and moving bios files there. Transfer bios files manually.

@loubatron03 Most likely you have the wrong type of roms (without headers). This is mentioned on the page.

unpack the rom and do file /path/to/rom from commandline and it will tell you what sort of file it is. If it says data file it's the wrong type. If it recognises it as a nes rom, it's correct.

update: I went to update everything in the retropie data. that didn't seem to work. However, I disabled or turned OFF the map hacking which I had ON and the controller works with ROMS now

So, I found the problem by myself, apparently all the USB cables I was using were not sufficient, found one that works, of all the things the USB cable was the problem...

Ok got it to not control the ES anymore which is great but after playing N64 i exit game and go to config controls cause some buttons are mapped wrong for emulator and RetroPie Setup is using the N64 as inputs and not the keyboard still. But this is a start. Thanks

@meleu in "pure" bash I don't think is possible but you can call c programs that do that, I've done that for other projects. I was trying to get everything done with a python script (which is totally not my weapon of choice), but with the bash and a couple of tricks this can be done, it fits the purpose.

The issue for me might be if I had multiple physical buttons connected to several GPIO to select specific games, but by having only one button really simplifies the whole thing.

I mean i added the kid modes mod to my emulation station, but when i had it installed it gave some weird error i cant remember what it was, it was due to me having sub folders in my nes folder,

and then when i went to uninstall it, due to it, not doing what exactly i want i got errors with es_config, which evecially led me to load my back up for RETROPIE, so basically what i am asking, has there been any solution yet for https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Child-friendly-EmulationStation

I love this feature but if its gonna give problems with sub folders i am gonna pass on it, but hoping the sub folder problem can be resolved in time.

I like to separate my games and keep Japan/USA only games together due to Universal Scraper reasons.

in completion i would like to see child friendly mode to read sub folders, and beable to add favorites, hide game and beable to interact with all the features in the future.
