@BuZz I unintentionally got two failed installs so I'll share them as they had your exit code fix. They failed differently so at least it's something. :) The N64 emulator exited with 1 as expected, but Splashscreen exited with 0 (it didn't continue to install but I don't know how to tell when it's done done). Edit: It should end with Info: [message] on success?

1: basic_install exited with 1 when mupen64plus failed. Ran on Debian with amd64. See full log.

Thread necro, but same problem, and a way to resolve...

Get into the command prompt go to the ~/RetroPie-Setup/scriptmodules/supplementary directory Delete the old retropie-manager.sh file Download the correct script from the github repo (https://raw.githubusercontent.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/master/scriptmodules/supplementary/retropie-manager.sh) Go back to RetroPie setup again and now the script should work and install retropie-manager.

    ("code" is below if needed)

    F4 cd ~/RetroPie-Setup/scriptmodules/supplementary rm -r retropie-manager.sh wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/master/scriptmodules/supplementary/retropie-manager.sh

We don't support 3rd party image, as explained in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.
Install the RetroPie image from https://retropie.org.uk/download and update the emulators, then try again and see if you can reproduce the error.

Nope. This didn't work. The internal resistance of the capacitor is too high to deliver enough current to prevent a power interruption. You get a very low current output for a long time, not a high current output for a short time. I found only very large supercaps such as car audio "stiffening" caps have low enough resistances, and those are about the size of a soda can so it's a no go.

Ok that's good to know (how messy they usually are).
I'll follow your advice then and will start my own project from scratch.

As this was an inappropriate question please feel free to remove it!

    Cheers

Sorry for the delay in replying. The only other thing in my 'fba' folder is another folder called 'fbneo' which has a file called galaxian.hi (high score I presume) along with other games with .hi extensions. Some files in there have an .fs extension, Galaxian doesn't have an .fs file here though.

Nothing at all now in the 'fba' folder as my games are now in 'mame-libretro'. No other files in 'mame-libretro' other than the rom zips.

    Hmm....

@mauroque said in Retropie no longer loads desktop:

could be a dick too and mention how nobody helped me with my controller problems with PS1 games last year.

Looking at your topic from last year, I don't see this to be true - you got help. How about your come back in another year or so ?

I don't think there's a RetroArch's option to fix what it looks like an overclocking issue - your overclock may not be stable.
Try removing your overclock and try one of the other N64 emulators - mupen64plus, the standalone N64 emulator, or lr-mupen64plus-nx , the newer version of the libretro N64 emulator core.

@ratedrguy said in Error running any script including RetroPie-Setup:

Module /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/scriptmodules/ports/openbor-6xxx.sh is missing valid rp_module_desc

It looks like you created this file incorrectly - this file is not part of RetroPie - attempting to install another version of openbor. Deleting the file would have fixed the problem.

You could just make a custom collection and then just add 2 player games to it. I did this to create a separate list of vertical screen arcade games from horizontal ones.

yes, i am pretty sure as i built a new Image from scratch when "Stretch" was introduced.
I did not install any drivers (i dont know any besides the "sixaxis"-one anyhow ;)) anymore but just used the bluetooth-tool.
My PS3-pads are still in the device-list and do work if i connect them.
I have no idea why it is not working for you, i hope someone else reads this here and can give more hints!

@ferhound Dreamcast is in great shape on the pi 4. Between redream and flycast almost all games run extremely well (minus WinCE games).

You haven't added any details about your system - as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.
To get a detailed log file from the emulator, enable debug logging from Runcommand launch menu when launching the game, then exit the emulator and post the contents of the log file (/dev/shm/runcommand.log) on pastebin.com.

@Zangdaarr said in Roms are on a network folder, but writing seems to fail:

That seems way more interesting, thank you I will investigate rsync, is there anyway for a sync job to simply wait and put the sync in queue if the connection is severed ?

rsync is just a synchronization/copy command, it's not a service that keeps tab on files. You can run it periodically and it will synch only the changed data, keeping transfers to a minimum. If your backup location is not available, it will fail.
