    @z1mzum Welcome to the forum. In general, it's better to open your own thread for your questions instead of using other's threads in the hope that a solution for your problem comes along. That said, a quick advice: If you can access your Pi over the network via SSH, you can use its file manager from afar. Just enter mc on the command line after logging into the Pi.

    @gabgreen For more information - see https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.
    The L/R buttons should not function as hotkeys, if you mapped them correctly in Emulationstation (in the input configuration) as L/R, then they should work in-game. You can open the RetroArch GUI menu to check your buttons by pressing Select + X and checking the Input section.
    Please see the read this first page and give more details, especially about the controller and emulator used.

    EDIT: According to the manual, the L/R buttons don't function in all areas, so it could be that the buttons are working fine.

    When in an action scene, the L and R buttons can be used to scroll the screen forward or backward slightly. [...] This function does NOT work in all areas.

    @mitu - I've done some more digging. The GameStick doesn't seem to be recognized properly by the evdev system. Found some fun log messages via dmesg:

    [ 15.328485] hid-generic 0005:0F0D:1011.0003: unknown main item tag 0x0 [ 15.328963] input: GameStick Controller as /devices/platform/soc/3f201000.uart/tty/ttyAMA0/hci0/hci0:11/0005:0F0D:1011.0003/input/input2 [ 15.330713] hid-generic 0005:0F0D:1011.0003: input.hidraw2: BLUETOOTH HID v7.07 Keyboard [GameStick Controller] on b8:27:eb:03:bd:7f

    It appears that the "unknown main item tag" error (which, googling around, seems to be a bug), is causing the controller to be detected by evdev as a "Keyboard". Which, obviously, doesn't work so hot for controller stuff, since the various buttons don't seem to map to anything ES's controller setup recognizes as a button or axis.

    I'm going to see if there's any kind of config option or something I can pass to allow this to work...

    For roms, no internet doesn't mean no network, so if you have a switch or a router (or event with a direct cable) you will be able to copy roms through CIFS, and do SSH.
    Moreover, you can simply transfer roms with a USB stick too, see here : https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Transferring-Roms

    Regarding updates, there is indeed no simple way to update retropie without an internet connection.

    And don't forget your cell phone Wifi Access Point feature ;)

    @slaycj23 Please read the https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first page. We cannot support 3rd party images, especially ones sold with RetroPie - and possibly with ROMs - by all sorts of greedy scammers.

    @spud11 said in Mapping a keypress to a joystick (Fuse/others):

    My runcommand-onstart file is now 113Kb in size, but I've found it has to be devoted purely to xboxdrv and case $2. If I try to add anything else to it with more general application like trying to invoke a bash script unrelated to xboxdrv, runcommand-onstart just doesn't work.

    I run 26 systems that make use of xboxdrv, sometimes having several dozen exceptions made for individual games. I've managed to keep the size of my runcommand-onstart.sh down to 39.9k by offloading the execution of xboxdrv itself to separate scripts. All the if/then stuff is still there, but once the conditions are met, it launches an outside script with the xboxdrv command. That may help to alleviate your situation.

    @alturis

    To my knowledge you can't, but I haven't put a lots of time into experimenting either. Acceleration, for example, seems to only affect the max speed. If you continue to test and find out something different, I'd be very interested.

    Replying for posterity -- there needs to be a patch applied to mame2010 for high score functionality to work. There is a github issue with a link to the patch: https://github.com/libretro/mame2010-libretro/issues/11

    Yes I haven't solved it and no one has even replied with any info. I guess it will have to wait until it is not hard coded, but gets the config from Emulation Station's virtual gamepad.

    Just to update, I opted to instead go with Sanwa sticks as they are the perfect size with the same screw holes and apparently the top of the line based on the recommendation of those in the know.

    @zerojay lol, here's a pointless story:

    About 12 years ago I was just messing around, trying to build Gentoo on a (very) old Acer laptop. Well, something went wrong and the build froze. These laptops had an actual pot wheel type volume control on the side, and apparently the Acer engineers hadn't thought "hey, how about some actual circuitry that sets a sane limit on the volume?"

    The volume control was set to maximum and the build failing caused a continuous tone from PC beeper, which was amplified through the built-in speakers . People in surrounding offices actually started evacuating because they thought it was the fire alarm. Yes, it was that loud.

    (I just realised that evacuating can have two meanings, both of which are valid in this case.)

    I haven’t seen any changes in over a year either. There’s not any settings that may change, only the paths to the emulators and that is rather stable.

    If you add new emulators however you will need to refer to the ETC location and copy/ paste the new system info into your OPT override.

    @mitu Turned out to be much simpler than that. This line:

    <extension>.uae</extension>

    Should have read ADF instead of UAE. All sorted now, excellent user-friendly emu :)
