@tonberryhunter I've not used AM and know little about it technically. However if it is installed as an ES theme would be then I imagine you would need to have a copy of it in /home/pi/.emulationstation as this is where RetroPie looks for themes first. I learned the hard way that themes in /etc/emulationstation/themes are overwritten freshly when RetroPie is updated. I lost my custom theme which I had foolishly failed to backup. I don't know if AM is the same, just a thought.

Thanks BuZz! I'll try that in the morning. I'd had my keyboard connected the entire time, so that's likely the issue.

@herb_fargus It's not a 3rd party image, it's someone's preconfigured noobs setup with 3 partitions: one with Retropie, one with Kodi, and one with Raspbian. It's still the default Retropie image on top of a headless raspbian os. It was done this way so you would have less overhead when running Retropie (rather than having Raspbian with the GUI with both Kodi and Retropie installed and running on it).

@neobium Please use the @+name-sign or click on reply so the user you might want to talk is mentioned. If the WIFI IP is the one you've setted in the config and you can't connect to the Pie via WIFI then your security key (=WLAN Password, WPA passphrase.... ) might be wrong. Please check this first.

To varify use CLI and use ping command
    ping your router first
    ping 192.168.1.1
    or via router hostname
    ping myrouter.ip
    ctrl+c stops ping command!

or you can try wget command to download some files
    wget http://www.retropie.org.uk/
you will get index.html from retropie

Or are you behind a company proxy and want to play some games while in work? ;)
Or is your subnet mask the right one? Is your router setted to only pass trusted devices?

Are you able to optain a connection via DHCP? if yes then use the method @hansolo77 and myself explained. Change the hostname with raspi-config and you can use any IP you want .

It's probably not working then because I have mine connecting to a Mayflash adapter (converts 2 DB9 controllers into a single USB plug) that is connected to a hub. The /dev/input/js# for the Atari Joystick isn't 0. This is why I'm going to have to go in and figure out if I can get either xboxdrv to work, or maybe swap the js# on the fly. It's a work in progress. I tried the swap method for Streets of Rage Remake but wasn't successful.

Psx games sometimes take a little longer to load because they took a little longer to load on a real psx. It was a cd based system. As far as the pixelated graphics, that's what they are. Most games were 320 x 240 and being stretched to 1080p will make it pixelated. That's just how the raw games looked. Try turning on bilinear filtering in retro arch. Or you can try the high Rez mode in pcsx

@rachuism at first sorry for delayed answer..... If you hash your password then special chars are hexed and your problems may be solved with your WIFI PW.

You can read this thread and follow instructions.
Here the PW is automatically hashed.

You see in the example the passphrease "Secret Key" was hashed to "5bee4223648102a29c09b2b52bbd2fc920c4d90ced9292781477d1bf219b753a"

You can also use this side to generate hashed values..... Be careful! You give your SSID and your PW to a xenos. I tested with the values provided in the thread linked above and the output from wireshark resulted also "5bee4223648102a29c09b2b52bbd2fc920c4d90ced9292781477d1bf219b753a" .... so this works so far!

    Knowledge is power!

@RandoCalrisian It's pretty impressive how fast you moved through this problem to a solution. The community here is great!

I do agree regarding the emphasis on the hand-held controller method of defining inputs. My cocktail setup sounds similar to yours--three panel, vertical games played from the ends. Because most of the console emulators are horizontal, my default retroarch.cfg is setup with that in mind, but I have a lot of in game adjustments in lr-mame2003 GUI. For FBA my default mapping is a NeoGeo setup, yet that forces me to do per-rom configs for most fighter games. You are definitely doing the right thing, or rather, the necessary thing to get what you need. It's tricky, but I appreciate how flexible it is. The biggest win from my perspective with RetroArch is the shaders. It's so great to have passably realistic scanlines and curvature across multiple systems. The exception for me is vector arcade games which I use AdvanceMAME exclusively for it's ability to specify high resolution.

For example... you don't mention what USB controller board you are using.

I am using 2 x Sanwa JLF joysticks via an Ultimarc IPAC2. But I'm not going to explain at length what you need to do if you're not even using the same board :P

I don't know about a bootable drive, but this guide might be close to what you want:

I really like the CRT Pi Shader, however I am running a 720p TV and the presets don't look quite right (I believe they are set up for 1080p) so I have a tweakes version of the shader I use for 8-bit and 16-bit.

as for N64, I tend to use the Hi Res emulator options in Retropie. Looks better than my actual N64 plugged into the TV ad nearly on Par with the ports in Rare Replay on Xbox one.

Video Smoothing can be nice, but it's just too soft for me these day (hence the shader).
