I tested the same controller setup with a pi3A so I have confirmed that the controllers are working properly. It seems to be an issue with the pi0w as both I have on hand had the same problem. I will rethink my genesis focused build to leverage the 8bitdo mod30s on a pi3A instead.

The question is - do I leverage a Genesis cartridge as the case or some sweet colorful nes carts I just picked up. I would need a label for the genesis cart. Let me know if anyone knows of a place to get a custom genesis cart label (preferably that fits on an EA sized game).

The RetroPie setup script already allocates 4G (see here), but I think the recent changed in upstream MAME have increased the memory needed for a successful compilation.

I’m having the same issue with Amiberry: slow performance, choppy sound. I followed your advice regarding the resolution, but it didn’t work

Open a separate topic and add your system info, it doesn't seem to be the same issue.

    Finally found the solution:

The default configuration of GPIONext is not optimal for those inputs.

    What fixed it:

    gpionext set combo_delay 0 # was 50

Hope it helps someone else !

@mortalwombat said in How to config 8-way rotary joystick games? (Ikaris, Forgotten Worlds etc):

MAME 0.139u1/MAME4Droid ROM works using Mame2010

mame2010 is the port of MAME 0.139u1/MAME4Droid to libretro, so that's expected

@mortalwombat said in How to config 8-way rotary joystick games? (Ikaris, Forgotten Worlds etc):

Regarding Gondomania (gondo.zip, US version), the Mame 0.139u1/Mame4Droid version seems to work, allowing your character to rotate with the L/R buttons when using it on Mame2000 or Mame2010. However, this only seems to allow you to shoot your special weapons in these directions (knives, axes, etc).

I know emulation of this game had major emulation fixes recently (because its MCU was finally dumped in 2020, 22 years after the game was first wrongly "emulated" with the dumps available), but i don't know how broken it previously was since i never played it before that redump. Anyway, only MAME (current) and FBNeo will allow you to play this game as it was intended, using the dumps from 2020. Afaik, the main shoot is the one rotating.

I can't reproduce the build error using a similar setup.

Support for Raspbian Stretch has been dropped - as you probably have been informed when starting RetroPie-Setup - so there's not much that will be done to fix errors on older systems.

@mortalwombat said in Anyway to copy ROMs btwn folders on (or from) your MicroSD?:

Anything this might mean? It wouldn't have to do with which romset they belong to, or which default emulator they've been set to?

It doesn't mean anything related to the emulator/romset the files are associated with. It's just coloring based on the file type and the file's attribute (executable). Same colors you see when your run the ls --color command to list a folder.

    Found the answer.

Although I did nothing more than go in to RetroArch and simply reconfigure the joypad using the exact same settings - it must have 'reset't things, and the hotkey is now working on the 3DO just like all other emulators.

Hopefully this may help someone else in the future

  • Dunelegacy in retropie 4.7.1 needs sudo to run?

    @polygaryd
so to run this from emulationstation @mitu said to add XINIT: /opt/retropie/ports/dunelegacy/dunelegacy in the emulators.cfg file in /opt/retropie/configs/ports/dunelegacy folder and retropie's run command will handle xinit. So I removed xserver-xorg-legacy package and tested what he told me to do. It does in fact work, no need for sudo before the xinit command with his suggestion.

As a side note he actually told me to do this for glhexen2 which needs xinit but couldnt find the game data files if you run "sudo xinit". I used what he told me and applied it to dunelegacy.

There are two more issues, one I have overcome the other I need help with. The issue I overcame was that when you run dunelegacy it says it cant find the pak files to run the game and wants them either in the "data" folder or /home/pi/.configs/dunelegacy/data". So in the start script located in /home/pi/Retropie/roms/ports/dunelegacy.sh I added "cd /opt/retropie/ports/dunelegacy" before the runcommand line. This first puts you in the dunelegacy directory with the executable and the data folder it wants, then runs the runcommand to execute the dunelegacy executable. I wish I could have the data under /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports like every other game ran in emulationstation but I havent figured out how to do that yet if its even possible.

The issue I need help with is I have no keyboard in dune legacy, but the mouse works. The game works fine otherwise. I cannot figure out how to get the keyboard working.

Keyboard does work in glhexen2 using XINIT: string so it must be something wrong with dunelegacy??

Any help on this would be great.

@mitu Using the standalone version of MAME, most recent version. And if you run merlin, mmerlin, mbdtower, starwbc you can see this happen.
