@mitu Right, so you're saying it's unable to catch a signal while it's "paused". Makes more sense now. I had assumed it would have forked the emulator and thus be ready for interrupt signals to act on in the background.

Anyway, this is way more than I really have any business knowing. Graphics and GUIs have never been my thing and I know enough about inter-process communication to get me into trouble, but that's about it. Thanks for the help. Really useful.

@vol-2 Oi, Phantasy Star is one game where the FM sound definitely was not better (IMHO). The author of the FM version didn't properly truncate notes and the bass line is nearly inaudible. FM sound is decent many other games, but not Phantasy Star.

@ExarKunIv Well i guess it depends on whether if you want to recompile ZDoom again for it to work with a modified gamepad or install the Xboxdrv driver package and create a runcommand file to be used. The Xboxdrv has the most advantage as it can be used for any port or any system and it works with any gamepad, while the other is only used for ZDoom.

I think Xboxdrv is the most versatile but if you only want to build a Doom inspired system, then RetroS3xual modified gamepad for ZDoom is probably the way to go and should work fine.

    Thanks.
Though I find it hard to believe I'm the only one wanting to use a x86 machine but with the same user experience as RetroPie on a Rpi.
So no desktop just plain retro gaming, seamingless. I can't find any good tutorial on this. Makes me wanna go back to my Rpi...
Problem with the Rpi is that it isn't powerful enough to Run Dreamcast and GameCube games.

    It's fixed!

I've removed all .ini files in /opt/retropie/configs/gc/Config
After that I opened Dolphin and I can use the keyboard now to navigate the menu.

Yes. This is simply about waiting for the server to not be overloaded if not registered user. I've seen the 'V' now as well as messaging about not being a registered user. Evenings are working best in my particular time zone.

@Wisker no worries, I'd go through the link I posted and gather some information about your setup so people can help and do some research on how the system works (where roms go etc). Basically when you launch a game there should be a box that pops up where you can enter a menu and select what type of emulator you want to use for the rom, this is where you can use mame 2003, 2010, advmame, fbalpha etc for specific roms or all roms in that group (Arcade as example).

@mitu Indeed - nothing seemed to happen. However I did already have a bunch of funky characters in the command line prompt, so perhaps those prevented the "reset" command from working.

This is the second time it's happened to me in the last two days, so I will try to type in "reset" on a clean command line prompt the next time it occurs (although it didn't seem to work for the previous poster and his issue is a carbon copy of mine).

Also a couple of other things - I just took a look at ETA prime’s video on an arcade1up conversion; I don’t see him using a third party image, he is just using the official image it seems with the “showcase” theme which you can download from the Retropie official version. There are a lot of cool themes people have created for the official version. The other thing is that just because ETA prime does something doesn’t mean people here necessarily support it. The guy seems like a good guy and I have certainly watched his videos for help but ultimately he is a profit-making enterprise for YouTube views, ads, affiliate links, etc, and (I think at least) he is not an official part of the RetroPie Project in any way. Finally keep in mind as you go forward on working on your project that videos of any kind are necessarily snapshots in time - they can be helpful but they can also become quickly outdated as soon as retropie is updated.

@Dcgrandon said in No input on certain PSX games:

I've dug all I can in the archives but this one has me stumped.

It's actually part of the PS1 emulator page - look here. You may have set the controller to analog for one game and this setting is automatically saved, applying to all games (as it's about the emulator/core options).

Man I can't thank you enough, it's finally working! If you PM me your details, you have a few beers from me :)

For anyone interested, after registering at screenscraper.fr and going through all SS flags arguments, I think I finally got it right:

    /opt/retropie/supplementary/scraper/scraper -scrape_all=true -download_images=true -download_marquees=true -download_videos=true -console_src="ss,gdb,ovgdb" -mame_src="adb,mamedb,gdb" -use_nointro_name=true -ss_user="user_name" -ss_password="password"

    No more errors:
