    @mitu Hi, and thanks for your reply.

    Apologies for having not provided feedback sooner, not normally my habit to be ill-mannered. I had to purchase a SATA to USB adapter so I could boot from my SSD with the pi removed from the case, then we had a family wedding ...

    Anyway, you're absolutely right. With the case taken out of the equation, and the SN30 Pro connected directly to a USB port on the pi, ReDream launches fine. So, as you said, must be an issue with the USB port on the NESPi4 case.

    As I say, I do have a different controller, also from 8BitDo, which doesn't experience the same issue. Possibly because that model has upgradeable firmware? So I'll most likely buy another one of those, one which colour matches the NESPi4.

    Anyway, thanks again for the solution.

    To anyone reading this, back up your image with a 2nd SD card, or at least copy your gamelists/roms/downloaded_images to a PC. This is really critical if you spent a ton of time perfecting your build.

    I use to backup all relevant files to my smartphone.
    This gives you the option to have all these files & folders ready anywhere and anytime :D

    Is there a way to run Mega Duck and WASM-4?

    I'm not sure they're available for ARM - I'm not familiar with these cores.

    I managed to get the Hires setting running smoothly by using the following (moderate) overclocking settings in /boot/config.txt:

    arm_freq=1300
    core_freq=500
    sdram_freq=500
    over_voltage=2

    The framerate needs to be set to 30 fps though. With the framerate set to 60 fps the sound will still stutter. The Pi 3 manages to achieve ~50fps according to the optional fps-display.

    Regarding the joypad "up and down issue" in the menus, I am also interested in a solution.
    I have an XBOX 360 controller and I am using the left analogue joystick in "wheel mode" using the following setting:

    <analog enabled="2"> <!-- Select axis for analog controls You can place the accelerator and the brake on the same axis if your controller has a split axis setup. For an XBox 360 Controller, the wheel should be axis 0 and the pedals on axis 2. --> <axis> <wheel>0</wheel> <accel>2</accel> <brake>2</brake> </axis>

    Usually, this is set to "0", which means that the analogue stick of my joypad would work as a digital one. The "2" setting allows much better steering control in my view.
    However, setting <analog enabled="2"> also means that the left joystick is deactivated for the menus. With a setting of "0", the analogue stick would kind of work, but sometimes I am e.g. unable to move down in the menus. So I am using my keyboard instead. I really need to find a way to configure the D-PAD up and down buttons for the game menu...

    This solution corrected the drift problems I was experiencing with my Xbox360 controller as well. Has anyone since come up with a workaround to address the resulting joystick menu deactivation (aside from using a keyboard)?

    I'd be interested in a solution as well.
    At the very least it would be great to map ESC to the joystick in order to quit the game without navigating the menu with analogue on.

    @giovanni11 Please don't bump older topics, you already have a separate topic opened for your question. Use the latest MAME and see if that solves your issue.

    After starting mame I pressed the TAB key and this menu opens, clicking on "dip switches" I have the possibility to change monitors 1/2, but I tried and selecting "monior 1, then the emulator always restarts with two screens

    Well, then I'm afraid I can't help you. I know nothing about MAME64UI on pc. I play the game using FBNeo on a Raspberry Pi 3 and the monitor setting does pertain in that.

    I do believe there's an FBNeo version for Windows, but I also don't know anything specific about that.

    @maschine Replying to an old message here, mainly in case others are looking for the same.

    If you want to fully disable the power button, then check the manual for this case. It describes a hardware jumper that can be set to fully disable the power button. Power will always flow to the RPi4B board.

    By setting the jumper to pin 2-3, the device will be in always on mode.

    @YFZdude You are right that the N64 was released before the Dreamcast.
    But the development of the FF-Function in Input-Devices was initiated by SEGA for the Saturn, but came later with the dreamcast.
    Nintendo was the first to bring it to the market after copying the idea (similar to the development of the mouse-controlled interface, which was seen by Bill Gates & Steve Jobs at their neighbour XEROX in Silicon Vally back in the 70s :D)

    You can use the scripting support in EmulationStation to run a script when a game starts/stops. See here. You can call your display script when the game starts, then another one that clears the screen when it stops.

    [...] The background music fails to play in both enabled and disabled modes - and this message is displayed in the top corner of my screen:

    Nov 23 10:21:35 lv10: VolumeControl::init() - Failed to attach to default card!

    Out of the box, RetroPie doesn't have any background music functionality, is this a 3rd party script that's running ?

    .. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be hugely grateful.

    Are you using a 3rd party image or the RetroPie image from https://retropie.org.uk/download ? The official RetroPIe image doesn't have this issue and we don't support 3rd party images here in the forums.

    Please add the info requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first to be able diagnose this further.
