@sleve_mcdichael...oh wow! I was a little perplexed after reading your suggestion, but ultimately found the solution! I went into Retroarch and changed the port 1 binds to Xbox One Controller and even changed the video aspect to 19:12...and proceeded to save as a core override. Now when I start the N64 games, my Xbox Controller is the primary controller, and my joysticks are NOT! SWEET!! Thank you!

If you are sure the PSU can deliver 5.1V constantly or more (but not higher than 5.5V) under load then most likely the USB cable may be another source for the undervoltage. Search for "micro usb 24awg 2c". The AWG24 wire gauge allows up to two ampere. (cf. here). And pick the shortest you can get. It may fix the issue.

However, from theory this may still not enough for an RPI3 (rated 2.5A).
You may try this, but do it on your own risk: Power the Rpi3 via GPIO headers. This bypasses the voltage regulator of the microusb port, so only use a PSU which has a stabilized output. Caution: Any mistake in wiring will fry your Rpi.

Get or make two DuPont wires with female endings, either AWG24 or AWG22 Cut them apart, thus you have two for 5V and two for GND at the GPIO header Properly attach the DuPont wires to the PSU, note the polarity Attach the female endings to the respective GPIO headers (use 2x 5V and 2x Ground) (https://pinout.xyz/#), again note the polarity Make sure the wires do not losen during gameplay

I have update a system from RetroPie 4.7.1 to 4.8 without issue. Better configure the system after the update to 4.8.

Use the screen configuration utility and make the 2nd HDMI port the primary screen.
Note that RetroPie is not supported on a desktop environment or on TwisterOS.

@EctoOne Yeah, I've seen that thread too. It's saying that the dock is using a unique way of wiring up the HDMI port, and that other docks besides the one it came with don't seem to work because they don't support the oddball standard RetroFlag chose. The port does work as a regular USB-C port though.

@MSP430 so far none of the systems you mentioned go over the resolution of your display. The PlayStation has a few games that go over, like tekken 3, or silent hill in the menus, but I’m sure it’ll look fine on a lower resolution display, if not a tad fuzzy and text might be harder to read in the higher resolutions.
Just know that PlayStation and especially n64 will be iffy on a pi zero. Not sure about a zero 2 for PlayStation, but n64 on a pi4 has many performance issues which is much more powerful than any zero.

Seems similar to https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/32891/ and (the recent) https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/32997/. Try modifying the .cfg file for your controller as explained in the 1st topic and start a game again.

Maybe you can ask your friend, since they're the one that set it up. RetroPie doesn't provide any ROMs, so they must have been added after the installation.
If I had to guess, they've used the .data folders to hide certain files from being displayed in the gamelist - a common method when you have a multi-disk game and you want to show just a single entry for the game (i.e. create a .m3u file pointing to the individual disc files placed in the .data folder).

That would be the correct answer or at the very least the only method i know to remap several games having the same layout at once.

Post your /boot/config.txt and /boot/cmdline.txt.

When you post an image, if it's wider than 1520px, the forum automatically generates a preview image for the post that's smaller, providing a link to the original image.

What I think happened is a bug (?) in the forum job that looks for 'orphaned' uploads (uploaded files from removed or cancelled posts) and deletes them.The job erroneously removed the preview images and thus the missing image in the posts (clicking on the link would still show you the original image).

@BuZz restored the preview images, for now I've disabled the 'cleanup' job until the issue is solved.

Thanks for helping me out. Everything else works fine. There is a connection and I can download and install or update everything else. It just is this one emulator I cannot install

@sleve_mcdichael now when I try and connect to my Pi from my PC using ssh pi@retropie.local (which you helpfully advised in another post) it just opens a black box for 3 seconds which then disappears before I can do anything. My PC and Pi are on the same network.

Because the distro's libSDL is newer and the joystick's name is different because of it (spaces are trimmed, SDL tries to apply some common naming for some controlls, etc.).

There's an issue opened for this https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/issues/3398 and we tried to fix this with a SDL patch, but I think in the future we'll just export the vendor/product IDs to the config file in order to appease RetroArch. Note that this applies only when the SDL version of the distro is used, on a RPI the SDL provided by RetroPie doesn't exhibit this behavior.
