@rachuism at first sorry for delayed answer..... If you hash your password then special chars are hexed and your problems may be solved with your WIFI PW.

Here the PW is automatically hashed.

You see in the example the passphrease "Secret Key" was hashed to "5bee4223648102a29c09b2b52bbd2fc920c4d90ced9292781477d1bf219b753a"

You can also use this side to generate hashed values..... Be careful! You give your SSID and your PW to a xenos. I tested with the values provided in the thread linked above and the output from wireshark resulted also "5bee4223648102a29c09b2b52bbd2fc920c4d90ced9292781477d1bf219b753a" .... so this works so far!

I do agree regarding the emphasis on the hand-held controller method of defining inputs. My cocktail setup sounds similar to yours--three panel, vertical games played from the ends. Because most of the console emulators are horizontal, my default retroarch.cfg is setup with that in mind, but I have a lot of in game adjustments in lr-mame2003 GUI. For FBA my default mapping is a NeoGeo setup, yet that forces me to do per-rom configs for most fighter games. You are definitely doing the right thing, or rather, the necessary thing to get what you need. It's tricky, but I appreciate how flexible it is. The biggest win from my perspective with RetroArch is the shaders. It's so great to have passably realistic scanlines and curvature across multiple systems. The exception for me is vector arcade games which I use AdvanceMAME exclusively for it's ability to specify high resolution.

For example... you don't mention what USB controller board you are using.

I am using 2 x Sanwa JLF joysticks via an Ultimarc IPAC2. But I'm not going to explain at length what you need to do if you're not even using the same board :P

I really like the CRT Pi Shader, however I am running a 720p TV and the presets don't look quite right (I believe they are set up for 1080p) so I have a tweakes version of the shader I use for 8-bit and 16-bit.

as for N64, I tend to use the Hi Res emulator options in Retropie. Looks better than my actual N64 plugged into the TV ad nearly on Par with the ports in Rare Replay on Xbox one.

Video Smoothing can be nice, but it's just too soft for me these day (hence the shader).

@johne79 I've updated the wiki page for OpenTyrian with details of how to configure a game controller.

None of the ports have anything to do with RetroArch. For OpenTyrian, I would keep a keyboard plugged until you have configured your controller. It may be the case that the default setting is mapped to a button or axis that doesn't exist on your controller.

I have not looked at the other ports. I am sticking with the DOS versions for now. You can check the wiki page for the relevant port. If the info there isn't helpful, then you can visit the repos for more documentation. Links are available in the Emulator: section.

I have noticed in most ports that the game controller works fine in-game but I need a keyboard to navigate menus. My solution was to use xboxdrv to map key presses to my controller. More info below:

@MarcB it's the global RetroArch config file. But some configs are in other files.
For fast-forward for example, the input_hold_fast_forward_btn = "7" line
in configs\all\retroarch-joypads\Xbox360WirelessReceiver.cfg is enough. But keep in mind that this config will work only for your xbox joypad.

I figured this might be a long shot. It's even kind of flaky with pairing with Windows, but works flawlessly on iDevices as you'd expect.

What's weird to me in that discussion is how they're talking about the driver working at the driver level but not in EmulationStation. Isn't all of EmulationStation driven on RetroArch, and isn't that driven on udev or whatever driver you specify?

In other words, if I want to make a custom device on an embedded MCU (like an Arduino Uno or STM32 Nucleo) and have it make a standard gamepad HID report, will RetroArch get in the way of configuring correctly because it's looking at manufacturer-specific information, which would get in the way of homebrewn hardware? I'd like to build custom HID controllers eventually as I get acclimated.

This is why selling RetroPie builds is popular and easy. They knock up an image, then all the people with issues come here because it's RetroPie.

I feel bad because the people buying it are doubly ripped off when it breaks and are told here that nobody will help unsupported images. 😫
