@orehruoy I think what you might of had problems with is the shutdown type button you use with the shutdown script is a single press sprung button to inturpt the signal/make a signal. ( squid button)

Sounds like the mega drive button is a switch which is why it's changing around each time.

@diego-zavala-xed Welcome to Retropie, Linux, and this forum. :)

Is there a reason why you didn't include your pictures directly in your forum post? I would be more convenient for others to look at them without having to go to another site.

@ectoone Thanks, you assumed correctly about the blue/white values. I think this is going to be perfect for my R2D2 build

Thanks for the info, I guess I was right in my first diagnosis about the origin being locked to the center after all SMH.

This sounds like one of those issues that's a "bug" if you're an end-user and a "design limitation" if you're a developer. At the least, I think it should be noted in the emulationstation themes documentation on github.

I'll start by setting my videos to just have an origin on 0.5,0.5 so that the OMXPlayer and the VLC Player are at least consistent. Then I'll try to figure out if there's a more elegant solution later on.

Best of luck with the theme, though - it's looking really great!

Thanks, but like I said, I'm just tinkering with the layout of the defunct Cygnus theme, so I really can't take credit for 95% of it (you can see that I haven't touched the credits in the header comments in the common.xml file).

You can, but only if you use the default video player. OMX does not support layers and will be always the top most element.

Spent hours and learned the hard way that you can't add it to the retropie/gamelist.xml anymore in 2.7.5
But you can add it to any other system gamelist.xml that has roms
Really needs a default folder as an option but for now just add the tag to any of your system gamelists

I don't use videos in ES because of the extreme heat
But I link 5 videos without names/paths to be discovered by the random video screensaver by simply adding it to the bottom of the nes/gamelist.xml file

    <gameList> <game><video>/home/pi/RetroPie/splashscreens/ss1.mp4</video></game> <game><video>/home/pi/RetroPie/splashscreens/ss2.mp4</video></game> <game><video>/home/pi/RetroPie/splashscreens/ss3.mp4</video></game> <game><video>/home/pi/RetroPie/splashscreens/ss4.mp4</video></game> <game><video>/home/pi/RetroPie/splashscreens/ss5.mp4</video></game> .... </gameList>

Works perfect every time and oddly don't overheat the pi while playing.

    Nice job.

    squints "That wiring looks familiar"

I may have my carpentry skill down, but I am always in envy of the artistic skills other people can display. It's a shame about the one side but that is what first runs are for.

One other bit of advice. Be sure to give the outside a few coats of polyurethane or something to protect it after all that hard work on the art.

Very similar to my build (including the Mayflash), although I cut some grooves in the expansion slot to add some USB ports.

I wired the reset and power button to work as well, using a coupleof trimmed microswitches and GPIO pins, think I used the 'PiGirl' script to add them easily, then set the reset button as an exit emulator option, as I just couldn't configure that with a standard Mega Drive controller.

I had this problem on an old atari, I think i needed to drop from 12v to 9v, I just bunged enough diodes in series to get a big enough voltage drop, worked well.

However, that doesnt take into account the prviously mentioned issue of if the voltage is ac or dc and if the amperage is enough, which it almost certainly is not.

@red5ive said in ComicBook Theme Launching Images:

Can that be done and if so what do I need to do?

The splash images are not part of Emulationstation, but part of the launcher - Runcommand. So, unless you find a substitute for it, the answer would be no.

@caver01 Don't know ... laugh or cry? That's really nasty on the NESPi case. I wanted my Rasperry setted in a new case, too. And then I realized the Pie was stuck caused by the SD.

I ordered artwork for my tiny bartop arcade from Rockstar Print and I'm very happy with the result.
