      @mitu Thanks, that also was my first guess (although I mentioned it secondly ;) ), but the other options seemed probable, too.

      so ,i was kinda overloaded with stuff didn't realy proceed with what i posted, i am back to making the arcade now ,still i am fazed with this problem ,since i am gonna be making a shutdown/boot button for the pi,if i connect in parrallel to this connection the button that you push to manually open the TV is it gonna work ?.My main concern is frying the pi due to the tv being a higher power device ,should i use a relay for that kind of work?.

      @djjujuvi use etcher, it's simpler and doesn't require unzipping.

      @djolivo24 What have you tried? How have you "shutdown"? What card are you using? Do you know it's genuine? How are you writing the image? Please do the things listed here:

      @jonnykesh

      I use these as well - although, not to disable the configuration. I also edited them and removed the "Press A Button..." on the bottom part. Seems pointless to have that if part of the reason for that screen is to disable that ability (until between it closing the game booting), and also seems anyone who would need to do that, already knows what to press.

      That was my little edit to those screens.

      @janik1501 said in Black screen on first boot:

      @digitalmonkey doesnt work either

      This means that you are incorrectly setting up your card, your card is not compatible or your card is corrupt.

      @pjft I know it can be installed from RetroPie. I've seen it, It's in "experimental packages", are the experimental packages now receiving full support? I just don't know anyone who actually uses it. Do you? Maybe I should have said "I'm not sure it's fully supported here as it is an experimental package". I'm sorry if I was not clear. My English is not so good sometimes. Apologies.

      @Hex IS there a way for me to access any save states that I have on the card in order to back them up? I think that formatting and reinstalling Retropie might be the easiest choice but I don't want to lose my data.

      Can you give me more details about how to use the Disks utility? Is this something that has to be run from my Raspberry Pi? Or can I plug the sd card into my Ubuntu computer and run the utility on there? Same question for the sudo fsck /dev/mmcblk0pX command - is that something that I can run from my Ubuntu computer with the sd card connected without causing problems?

      Fixed: Don't run RetroPie Setup from EmulationStation, because EmulationStation doesn't want you to run as root and you need root to do the autologin changes. Sudo and run the RetroPie Setup from cmdline and then change your autoboot, everything's peachy now.
