      @brigane

      For my DOSBox setup, I have mouse control set to a toggle. By default my left thumbstick acts as the standard joystick for DOSBox, but with a button press it's able to control mouse movement. I also have it set to change the two joystick buttons to left and right mouse clicks. This works well for the Atari ST and Amiga systems too, as several games need to be launched from an emulated desktop environment. Once the game is launched, I press the toggle button again and it reverts back to being a joystick. All that said, I still use a mouse and keyboard when I feel they're better suited. It all depends on the situation and the game.

      @2Play if you install windows 3.11 you need to choose /pcdos/ as the c: drive. Then do command “cd WINDOWS” Otherwise you will start installing all your windows games and software in the windows folder creating a huge disaster. There are a couple dos games you need to actually install the soundblaster drivers and set the c drive as /pcdos/ as well so it can find the soundblaster drivers folder. Personally i set my “pcdos” (i use a different name) folder as c: and “cd “game folder name”” on all games to avoid any conflicts.

      @10vorne scummvm doesnt host data files, they just tell you which files it needs to run, so if the files you have reflect those, throw them in the scummvm rom folder (I usually keep games in their own subfolders) then launch it from the scummvm gui

      @spudsmctoole just so you know, you can put cycles as first thing under [autoexec] and remove the [cpu]. All the settings can be done this way. They just have to be before you mount the drives.

      @mrdowntempo no problem. Just remember one thing, linux is case sensitive so caps and lowercase are important. Even though if you are inside dosbox and you want to run say WOLF.EXE you can type wolf or wolf.exe, when you do it in a .sh file, even though it actually runs the commands inside of dosbox you have to have it say WOLF.EXE.

      However, if you do it in a .conf file it doesnt matter.

      I like ScummVM simply because its easier to use than DosBox. Plus, I can run the games on my Android Tablet as it's compatible with the touchscreen.

      @dudleydes windows 95 is hard as hell to get working at all on the pi and games are slow as crap and virtual drive doesnt work. Dont think 98 can run at all on the pi.

      you can check the following thread (or just the first post, OP summarised it nicely)
      https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/7934/ignition-dosbox-working

      similar approach can also be used to have a well organised DOS games in RetroPie gui

      @alexxx I believe the Using joystick message is the joystick information SDL reports to DOSBox. For my PS3 controller, I get the following:

      Using joystick Sony PLAYSTATION(R)3 Controller with 27 axes, 19 buttons and 0 hat(s)

      I do also get the following message which confirms my joysticktype setting.

      One joystick reported, initializing with 4axis

      I have checked the dosbox-SVN.conf file and the 2axis setting allows support for two joysticks.

      I seem to remember (but I'm at work, will check this evening) that problems could arise when both the controller and the mouse are connected - as are mine at the moment...
